MAC - Surf Baby Discussion

Got my backup of Hibiscus with no problems at all! SO glad I canceled the MAC online order. I got it quicker and spent less. Score.

Also, I made the mistake of swatching Hang Loose while I was there, and I'm kind of in love with it but decided not to get it today. I'll go again later this weekend and if they still have it, it's meant to be. If not, I'm sure I can find a dupe.

AAgh! I don't know what to do...I semi-successfully talked myself out of getting Hibiscus when it was sold out on MAC's site and Macy's. Now that it's in stock on MAC'ssite...I've been going back and forth, I need it, I don't! I do want to get Bust Out! and Surf USA. I wish The MAC website had Surf USA in stock so I could just place an order for what really want or am sure of. My natural lip color isn't super pale, but a nice pink...I just don't know if Hibiscus would still be too orange for my liking. Oh, do I have to make a trip to the counter...I do have a coral lip pencil/stick combo that is Coral and the pencil is a bright orange color, but on my lips it is not in your face orange... Decisions, decisions!! Oh, and has anyone tried MAC's lip brush? You like it?

I have a couple MAC lip brushes & they are nice.

With Hibiscus, you can always just put a light application on your bottom lip, then smoosh your lips together & the ls color will come out a very soft version of the lipstick. You can always build it up if you want more. ;)

I am so bad, ya'll. I went and ordered Swell Baby. Why? Well, even though I already have a few grays, I am loving the stuff that I got from this collection and none of the shadows are really losers. Like I said in my original review, it's all a matter of color preference. There's no harm in throwing in another shade of one of my favorite colors. Also, I ordered Ever Hip. This is where you guys have been bad! I went to the FF thread and read that it was back in stock. I guess I'm feeling adventurous. Something tells me it won't work, but I've told you all before how I am when I am curious. I won't stop thinking about it until I know for sure. I used a shipping code for 2nd day shipping. I was going to get back ups of Hibiscus and KK, but I need to be reasonable. I will remain content with just one and leave them to those who really want it and are searching for it. No offense to those who did buy back ups, though. No shade, no shade. :haha:

I love your analogy about crayons and makeup. My stash especially e/s is like having a 200 plus (yes I'm serious and yes I'm
th_crazy.gif
) crayin box. But yet I still find reasons to add more because they are not quite the same shade as one I have, as if anyone could tell when it is on my eyes.

As far as Hibiscus goes I figure if it's too bright for me I'll use Bubbles with it as I do with my other brights to tone it down.

I think I will skip Sun Blond. I was hoping like Audrey that it would pull green as that is what I wear most often. OMG decisions decisions but I will pick up Surf Baby even though I really don't reach for my teal palette much but they're so pretty.

Woo, just got back from my counter.
My final list:
Hibiscus
Good Lovin'
Surf USA
Sun Blonde
Swell Baby
Saffron
My Paradise

What I actually bought:
Hibiscus
Krazy Kahuna
Surf USA
Sun Blonde
Blue Noon
My Paradise

I really disliked Saffron's pigmentation, it kind of disappointed me. Swell Baby was pretty, but it had shimmers and I don't know... I still kinda want it. If they still have it on Saturday, I'll buy it, If not, I won't sweat it. :)
I compared Good Lovin' with Prrr and they look alike, though Prrr is a bit more pinky while Good Lovin' is a bit more peachy. I am pretty sure they would look the same or close enough on the lips, though.
Krazy Kahuna definitely surprised me. I asked the MA to use it over Hibiscus and WOW. I loved it. :D She loved it too and said she was going to change her lip combo (Mocha& Krazy Kahuna) to the one I have on. On her, Mocha and KK looked so pretty and peachy and I will definitely be buying Mocha soon, along with Brown Script eyeshadow (more of that in a bit).
As for Hibiscus, it's absolute LOVE. The MA was charging someone and when she saw me put it on she exclaimed that it looked "sooo awesome" on me. XD
I really liked the gold from Surf the Ocean stack but I can dupe it and if not dupe, then get a color close enough. :)
I didn't even bother with Summer Stash, it's pretty but I *know* I wouldn't use it. Better let someone who really wants it have it.
I thought I was going to skip Blue Noon since I thought it would be close to Float on By but no dice. Blue Noon is definitely greener so I bought that. ^^;;
My Paradise was love at first swatch.

My MA said she loved how it looked on me and said no matter what, I must take it. :p
Here is the look she did for me.

(sorry if the pics are too big!)
I was soooo surprised that she told me that name of the eyeshadow she used in my crease was Brown Script! I told her it looked orange on me and she agreed lol. I swatched it on my hand because I was curious to see how it looked next to Saffron and wow... they looked like cousins! Though of course BS (hehe) has a matte^2 finish and Saffron a... satin one? Brown Script turned out to be what I hoped Saffron could have been. I didn't buy Brown Script, but I will soon enough along with Mocha. :D
I didn't bother with the bronzers or nail polish.
Anyway, that was my MAC experience. ^_^

We baby sat over the weekend so we always get her those animal toys with the squeaker & no stuffing in them. :)

Awwww she's adorable! I recently got a chihuahua boy and he loves to snuggle under the blankets and follow me everywhere. I will upload pics of him later on my blog.

Shontay, I totally understand where you said "I won't stop thinking about it (Ever Hip) until I know for sure. I am the SAME way with iffy shades!I I was in that mentality when I saw Strange Potion lg when VV was launched. Before that time, I never went near corals. I caved and bought Strange Potion then, and am soo glad I did! I love it, and it is a nice shade of coral for me. When I saw Ever Hip (a color I never thought I would go near until SP) back in stock on MAC's site, I am debating getting it...though I think I am going to try to be reasonable with my purchases...

Of course "shadowaddict" you must have a big ol crayon box! We all need to face it - we love new things & new colors
sigh.gif
So funny, I'm glad you shared that!

I think you'll be ok with Hibiscus with the dab & smoosh method
girlhaha.gif
It's a shade that really brightens up the face.

btw - I watercolor so I am VERY addicted to every shade color that there is. I think it translates into the whole makeup thing.

Couldn't get away so the hubby was kind enough to go to the counter for me. I'll go check out more stuff later on this evening but I definitely wanted him to get e/s's in Surf USA and Sun Blonde because I felt those would be the first 2 shadows to sell out. He asked if there was anything else I wanted so I told him I wanted to check out Swell Baby e/s but wasn't sure and would check it out later when I go. He comes home with all 3 shadows. How sweet of him. Swell Baby looks like it will go really nice with a deep smokey plum/purple to make a nice evening smokey eye. I like it but I'm not totally sure I wouldv'e bought it. I've been looking for a nice gray sort of matte shadow and had been contemplating on getting one of the Sephora brand shadows called City Fog. Heck I still might get that one. LOL.

I tried so hard to get a good picture, but it just didn't show up like real life. I'm wearing Short shorts on the lid with Swell baby in the crease, and a matte vanilla under the brow with Juxt green e/s under the lower lash .... SOOOO soft and gorgeous!! I'm in total love with Swell Baby. She didn't get much hype but she's lovely.

i just got back from MAC. I left the glided white eyeliner behind, i'm not a huge fan of their eyeliners.
but i did get a couple of sample, and the MA that I usually go to gave me a decent amount
I got a sample of the seafoam green color from the Surf the Ocean stack and the pinky plum color from the Summer Stash stack.
They're both BEAUTIFUL colors!
She also gave me a sample of the Oil Control Lotion and the Pro Longwear foundation (I can not wait to try them out!)

Im happy with my purchase, except for saffron eyeshadow, it lacks the pigmentation that the other eyeshadows have. I still like it, its a pretty color so Im just gonna have to play around with and use a base to make it pop !!!

I ran up to my counter and checked everything out. I ended up with Surf USA and fell in love with Surf the Ocean Pigment stack. I am not normally a pigment girl but these are amazing, especially the Aquamarine color. WELL, as I was waiting in line to pay, the girl in front of me got the last Surf the Ocean :( I wasn't expecting to want it, and all of a sudden, I was crushed that I couldn't have it. The MA said that there are several on hold that have not been picked up yet, and if they have not been claimed by closing time, one of them is mine. I found another counter close by that has them in stock, and they are holding one for me just in case I can't get one at my normal counter... so I will be able to get one, but not without having to drive all over creation to get my hands on it.

Other than that, I wasn't thrilled with anything. Passed on Sun Blonde... looked like baby poo on me
girlhaha.gif
The green e/l is pretty, but super close to Minted, which I have. And I think I prefer minted anyway. Hibiscus is very pretty, but too bright for me. And the blush was sold out already by the time I got there. It kind of erked me because there was a lady in front of me that had put things on hold several days ago and she came to pick them up. No lie, she had to have AT LEAST $500 worth of the new collection in her hold bag, including the pigments that I wanted. She only had $50 in cash with her and had forgotten her credit card, so she sifted through the bag, got out $50 worth of things, and put the rest back in the bag, which they will hold for her until close tonight. It really bothered me to see that someone would hold SO much of a collection, and multiples of the same items (she had 4 of the blush), causing them to sell out, and then let them sit, when people who want them, and have the money for them right then can't buy them. Don't get me wrong, I do call and have things held for me occasionally, but I think that a situation like that is a total abuse of the hold policy. Now there is a chance that I will have to drive all the way back there tomorrow morning because that same lady will not have come back to get all of those things. With the price of gas, it's killing me. If I didn't want them SO bad, I would just forget it.

Anyway, I am super excited about the 2 items that I chose. Can't wait to see more FOTDs from all of you lovely ladies :)

I did B2M for Summer Shower l/s from the Fashion Flower collection, too.

It's crazy that some people are having problems with Saffron. It's very well pigmented for me. I just use it over a colorless base(Nars smudgeproof primer) and I have to go lightly with it. :dunno:
