MAC - Surf Baby Discussion

Went by one of my local Mac counters today- one of the ones that's only had Quite Cute since April 7th. Every lipstick save Saint Germain was sold out. The reactions to this collection haven't been particularly positive, but every single limited edition colour is gone. I think that they're very much into whipping people into a frenzy now that they see how quickly they can move a large volume of product in a short time. Keep in mind- the faster they can move product, the more money they make from it.
From the pictures I've seen, I'd say this one is a lot closer to Bite of an Apple than Hipness- it seems deeper and redder than Hipness, for sure. Personally, I love Hipness. I actually got it back when it was originally released and it still occupies a unique place in my collection. However, my guess is that, if you're looking for that colour, you're better off trawling evilBay for the original (at a reasonable price) than hoping that this one will match. Just my opinion.

sigh, I forgot about this collection while looking at the mineralize collection. I thought this was going to be a big haul, but I really want to save money for the brushes. I bought from Quite Cute and didn't plan on it....

Hmm... I guess I'm the only one who's not feeling Saffron

. I have it from Mickey Contractor but I don't love it. Pigmentation wise, it's good. I use it on my crease from time to time... and that's about it. On my lid, the color makes me look sickly. Even on the crease it's only good if I wore smokey brown looks. That's just my two cents though.

I guess then I'm only getting Gilded White e/l from this collection. My wallet is relieved!

@cutemiauw:how does it make you look sickly, is it the red in the colour or something else? I think Saffron will either make my eyes really pop or make me look like a zombie, but hey, I'm willing to try.

^^ might be the red in it. Just doesn't go well with me.

It made me think I couldn't pull off oranges but then Paparazz-she Mega Metal Shadows (from MAC Peacocky) totally rocks.

Sure, Sayah, it's definitely worth trying! I might be just a tiny percentile ;-)

Also on me Saffron could be a bit odd (like follow your fancy) because it's a red-orange (yellow-orange suits me better) but I want to try it because everyone says it's a great eyeshadow!! And I love coral, orange and so on ...

I guess with the shadows it's the same with me, I like more yellow-orange tone. I do like Coral Crepe paintpot, even though that's a bit redder.

What else are you planning to get from this collection?

yep, Spektra tempts us!!!! I'm quite fine and really pennyless (or euro-less) and of course it's all MAC faults! From this collection I like three eyeshadows (sun blonde, saffron, surf USA), hibiscus and I want to see swatches of bust out and naturally eccentric (I will end up getting one of them or nothing) and I also like girls on board and krazy kahuna. I really prefer this collection to quite cute, fashion flower and flightly!

Im liking Hibiscus so I have added that to my list . . . I passed on strange potion last time but I think Imma get it this time around.

I am going to skip the shadows that I wanted form this collection (Short Shorts and Swell Baby) since I'll be getting Fresh Daisy and Groundcover (they're close enough for me), and instead, I think I'll get all four lipsticks! I've been wanting Mocha for a few months now and Naturally Eccentric looks promising. I'm excited!

I was thinking the same thing. Either Fresh Daisy and Groundcover or Swell Baby and Short, Shorts but I'm not sure which 2 just yet. I'm actually liking My Paradise more now after the new swatch.
