MAC - Surf Baby Discussion

Where is the best place to call ahead and reserve products for this collection? I am gonna try that this time instead of stalking the website. Anyone call their local MAC store or have luck reserving at Macy's? There is a Macy's close to my house and the MAC store is about a thirty minute drive, but harder for me to get to on my lunch break. Do you ladies know if they will reserve stuff before the collection comes out???

This really varies by region and store. My best advice is to develop a relationship with local MA's. I have a running list with my favorite MA at a Dillard's MAC counter. I always have first dibs on whatever collection that comes out. I give her my list and she puts my items in a bag in a drawer and I come in when the collections launches (or a couple of days after). She does this because she knows that I will be a steady and loyal customer. I don't purchase online or from any other counters in the city. They have to compete with a Freestanding store in the same mall, so they pass this courtesy on to their loyal customers. The Freestanding store will not hold items. I was looking for an item one day and my store was sold out. I called another counter in the city but they would only hold it until the end of business. It really just depends.

Ok well...this is just another issue where MAC needs to streamline their consumer response. There is one Freestanding store in New Orleans (the only place where you can use the PRO discount) and they will not let you use the PRO card on any special packaging collections...licensed or not.

I kinda hope that it goes up next week if it's going to go up early because I have no money until Thursday, and I will be livid if what I want sells out before I can get to it.

I decided to use the live chat on the site to ask when this will be launched online, and they still don't have a confirmed release date. I remember seeing someone else on here ask the same question, and they got the same answer. That really makes me wonder.

That was me. I just did another live chat (yes I am also stalking the websites for this collection), and I asked about the release date again. I mentioned that I had heard that it will be released in stores the week of 5/26 and asked if that might not be accurate. She told me to keep in mind that the launches on the website and in the stores are separate & may not happen at the same time.

I am not sure how to edit my previous post, but I forgot to mention this. She was hinting that it may launch sooner than that week on the website. I know that we are already speculating about this here, but I just wanted to share.

I remember posting here for people who had trouble with Strange Potion to put it over a coral lipstick and it would be gorgeous. Well, I found another way: SP over Summerfruit liner. It's amazing! It's so amazing, I want to buy another SP, but I will try to control myself. Also, when I was at Mac tonight buying that liner, I swatched Mocha. No thank you, sir. Too thick and not the kind of color I want on my lips. I think it'll clash with my undertones. That means I can scratch off KK lipglass b/c I wanted it to go with Mocha. I am loving the idea of saving money right now. So: Sun Blonde Hibiscus ...and that's it :lol: Seriously, I am so over everything else at this point.

sorry i've been gone for awhile so this may have already been answered but in the original pic from the allglam site, didnt it show blush tints? sorta like the bronzor ones only on temptalia it doesnt show proof of their existance... i'm just curious

I think they were called blushettes, and the MAC MA told me that they decided not to release them unfortunately

I have about five real Konad plates and these, and in comparison these actually work just as well. Plus, they are super cheap and you get a huge variety of image plates. I love my konad so much, and use it quite a bit

I love my Konad plates - you should seriously try them! I've been meaning to buy more plates for ages...

I found a comparison of Strange Potion and Pink Lemonade (first two swatches). The blogger says they're the same color, but PL has more shimmer. Guess I can take SP off my list, I have PL and LOVE it

TIA[/quote] I had PL but I returned it ages ago. Wasn't pigmented enough for me. I can't recall the color of it exactly, but I remember when I first tried SP that I thought "Ooh, this is different". That's why it was my favorite thing from VV. On my lips, SP is like a pale coral. Similar to BB lipgelee from FF, but with more pigmentation. Really true to Temptalia's lip swatch. She said it could possibly be a dupe, but she doesn't own it either. I don't care much for perm Mac lipglass.

Oh, I almost forgot.... today I was playing w/ the pig stacks from SCF , & while the colors are pretty they were chunky but they did seem like they were a lil easier to work with this time around! Haha maybe it's just the addict in me trying to "justify" a way to add surf the ocean to my list !!!!

I notice not many people seem interested in the careblend powders but they are the one item that is tempting me from this collection.

I have been wanting a decent bronzer for a while, preferable with no (or at least very minimal) shimmer. I'm debating whether it would be best to go for a careblend powder, mac bronzer or MSFN. Can anyone explain the main differences between these?

I'm also very tempted by the new NARS bronzing/blush trio: http://www.narscosmetics.co.uk/color/blush-and-bronzers/blush-bronzer-trio.html but Laguna has shimmer....

If it makes you feel any better, every time I've had a problem and called them, they've been super nice and never even showed a sign of doubt in me. Is Hibiscus sold out yet on your site?? If not, then it really shouldn't be problem.

I just rang them and they were saying that they are unsure that I've been charged... wtf? I have because I paid with paypal and have confirmation from both mac and paypal of the amount I paid. I've just added it all up and it is correct with two lipsticks. Mac emailed me to say they were out of stock for one of the eye shadows I ordered so refunded me for that and I have a paypal refund email for £9.50. They have definitely charged me, the woman was saying that it looks like I've been charged £14 for one lipstick instead of £28 for two. I don't understand how. She said she is going to pass it on to get it sorted and I gave her my email address so she can get back to me. If I don't receive an email I am going to ring them again when I get home. I'm even more peed off now.
