Miss California's answer............

I think that this question struck a chord in Miss CA, which made her emotional and want to dish out. After all, this is a common reaction of someone affected in that way. She had very little composure and was trying to mask that. I agree with Perez Hilton in saying that there is a "right" answer to most of these questions and she chose not to give it because she felt so strongly about something.

It sometimes seems unfair that you can't represent yourself in this contest, but at the same time, I don't think Miss CA's answer really represents a lot of Californians. Why should we have her as our representative if we're not satisfied with having her for such a task?

^I hate to say this, but all of these contests are a farce. There is no actual representation of a group of people in this country unless they (the people) have a system give that power to a person. Donald Trump's empire doesn't fall under that system of representation. So just as you don't elect Miss California, you can't impeach her. Just in the same way, she does not represent you, rather she represents Trump's corp in that state.

Now, if a specific religious institution wants recognize that is another question. And that's not even getting to the civil marriages.

She is entitled to her opinions about marriage, but so are Christians who support marriage equality.

Please dont take this as an attack, but are you suggesting that a same sex marriage can be a christian exercise, conducted with God's blessing? I am open to accepting that as your opinion. But if it is to be passed along as fact, I'd like to know the basis of it being deemed as such. Maybe we should start another thread so we can be more specific about it.

The poor girl. Now that youve put it that way, it could not have been easy.

As much as I'd like to agree that Miss CA cannot represent all people, but rather Trump and that we cannot impeach her, she simply cannot win the contest with her answers if she cannot please the most amount of people. The most successful candidates often are able to find a perfect balance that most people and judges can be happy with. A candidate should not say anything that can potentially anger a lot of people in their home state, especially when they should be cheering for her. I'd also imagine a number of people that follow this competition are gay. That can't be good for her.

Bah I'm so over this. She's a beauty queen! I've never paid attention to pageants before this and it sucks that I can't avoid hearing about this because it's everywhere.

WHO CARES. Let her think what she wants. I'd be more concerned about Obama's + other politician's stances on gay marriage vs that of a BEAUTY QUEEN. Who is she? What power does she have? Nobody and nada.

#1 I don't take your inquiry as an attack at all.

#2 I am just pointing out that the viewpoint that all Christian must ascribe themselves to the belief that marriage is only between a man and a woman is fatally flawed by the fact that there are many people who disagree with that view who are Christian. This is part of the problem with Prejean's argument that her views are solely because she was raised as a Chrisitian.

Secondly, I feel the problem is that she was asked a question about states and governing bodies in the US, not about Christians and their views in the US. It is good that she brought up that her view of the US and Christianity seem to be conflicting, but then it's like she did a 180 with all of her political stints and is trying to merge them in what is supposed to be a nation that supposedly does not favor one religious institution (or lack thereof) over another. In essence, she combined her views on religious marriage with her views on civil marriage, which in my view are two completely different institutions. Especially in my church.

#3 My personal views can probably be explained in a (series) PM(s) if you really want to know what I think and why.

I think its sad that her close mindedness cost her the Crown. She doesn't have to agree or disagree with gay marriage, she could have simply said "I think its an important issue right now and I believe that each state should decide for itself whether it will or will not legalize gay marriage".
Shes close-minded for her views? Because she doesnt agree with what you think would be right for this country? Isnt that being closed minded in itself?

Someone earlier stated that she should have gave an answer that went more along with mainstream and progressive thinking, instead of what she really beleived...you guys do realize that most in this country beleive gay marriage should NOT be legal, right? So she's in the majority in her thinking...

Heres a good article about the issue:

I skimmed over that propaganda you linked us too - thankfully I didn't waste my time reading the entire article. After seeing "gay is a choice" in the context of that article, the only conclusion I would come to by reading that is rapidly loosing brain cells due to the arrogance spewing from that piece.

No one would choose to be gay - and subject themselves to the exact type of hate and discrimination sampled here.

Whoever has that account only joined to comment on threads such as this and other gay marriage threads. They are just pushing their own personal agenda.

I love you. Marry me? Of course, we'd have to go somewhere other than where *I* live to do it...

What a complete load of hooey. What the "majority" thinks when it comes to civil rights is irrelevant, thank goodness or my marriage to my husband might still be illegal in many states...

to Jennie - lol, majority of ppl thought that the sun revolved around the Earth at some point, until someone proved them wrong! So even if the bolded statment is correct, majority doesn't always know best.

But out of curiosity, can someone provide a reliable source (some kinda of stat's) as to what ppl in the US believe? I'm aware that the majority of Americans are christians and probably much more religieous than Canadians, but do they mostly oppose gay reunions? Just wondering...

Carrie Prejean -- Fired!

UPDATE: We learned Carrie just received her letter of termination. She is officially out.

We've learned "biblically correct" Carrie Prejean will lose her Miss California USA crown today because she doesn't play well with others.

Sources connected with the pageant tell us even Donald Trump has now had it with Carrie, because she's violating her contract by not getting clearance to do her extracurricular stuff.

We're also told Carrie has been a no-show for appearances she was supposed to make for the pageant organization.

The firing, we're told, is strictly based on Carrie breaching her contract. It's not based on her political and moral views.

Carrie is getting her walking papers this afternoon.

The new Miss California USA will be Miss Malibu Tami Farrell.
