Hi Bis!!  :wavey: Happy New Year to you as well - and of course, all of our Ratonas!!  I too hope HG pops in again soon - All the best that 2013 has to offer!!!
2013 will be great ;) How are you doing? :)
Happy New Year to all the Chanel ladies! I am always sneaking around, but don't have much time to write, but I didn't want to miss the chance to send my best wishes to everyone. I hope you all have a great 2013.
How are you? I have not read you in forever, how is living with the boyfriend?
Hello to Bis, Almus and MissQQ -- it seems we don't get to "chat" as much as we used to!  Hope you all have a healthy and prosperous new year! :)
How are you doing? Less stress with the house I hope? Somehow work gets in the way of talking about Chanel. Catch 22 somehow ;)

It's so nice to read you bis! How are you?

2012 has been a very busy year for me that ended up in obtaining my PhD degree in mid October! yeye! Right now I am finishing my last ongoing projects at my current lab and looking for a new position as a postdoc (yeye! yeye!). Living with the boyfriend is awesome. He loves cooking, he doesn't mind cleaning (although he keeps improving his skills on that daily), so it is as great as the first day of moving together.

As soon as I settle down, I will be coming more often. I've been so busy in the last months that I barely put my feet on stores, so now I feel a bit guilt-free to splurge

So kind of you two to ask about my job!

Well, I had to quit the PR job in October. It really wasn't working, it was insanely busy and made quite a lot of money (for me, anyhow), but I was unhappy the whole time. I didn't like the field the agency specialised in and felt I had to be another person to be good at this job. So I quit, which resulted in a lot of unpleasant things, but at the end of the day, I think it was the right decicion. I really felt that life is too short to be unhappy every day and now I try to figure out what I would really like to do which is astonishingly difficult for me.
Otherwise, everything is good - apart from some health problems which annoy me a great deal because I feel I'm too young for this sort of thing - I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis.

Sadly, all of that combined put a damper on my high end and specifically Chanel purchases! I fortunately got some things from the holiday LE (not released in Germany, argh!) and am now looking forward to that glorious highlighter. Let's see what will win in the end - lemming or willpower?!

Oh Anneri, how terrible for you! I hope you are able to get things under control and can feel better......

Yes, you don't want to go through life being unhappy with what you spend a significant part of your life doing.....I know you will find just the right thing. Sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs, as they say!

Yay for the LE holiday items! You'll love the highlighter!

So sorry to hear about your job! I hope everything works out in the future. I am also sorry to hear about your health issues.

OT: I went through something similar in 2001. I had a "dream" position that I had been preparing for throughout my education and was beyond miserable. I quit, moved halfway across the U.S., and started over in a new career. Now I am very happy. Everyone, including my college mentor, told me that I was crazy at the time to do this, but I am so happy that I did.

I'm a firm believer in 'go with your gut'. Things usually work out in your favor, and if not, at least they were your mistakes to make. Nuthin' ever wrong with that!

Thanks a lot for your words of support, Shypo and Haven! I try to see the bright side - at least, I've lots of time for myself, and who can honestly say that? I also have the inestimable support of my bf, which counts for a lot.
I also depend on stories like yours, Haven, which tell me that everything will surely work out in the end. And in the meantime I will proceed to kiss some frogs!

Very sorry to hear about your job, Anneri. I've gone through this a couple of times and, if it's dragging you down like that, it's absolutely the right decision to leave. That sort of poison can erode all the other parts of your life. Having taken that difficult step, give yourself time to figure out what you really want, either in the form of a dream job, or in setting reasonable limitations on what you expect from a job so that you can pursue the things most important to you on your own time.

Thank you everyone!

Michelle hi! How are your girls? I think you were moving to a new house, so I hope you are enjoying your new place.

Anneri, I agree with everyone else here. You made the right move, cause as you said, life is just too short to spend a good part of it feeling unhappy. I wish sincerely that you will find the perfect job for you along this new year.

Yey on Notorious! Cheryl, thanks

Exactly! You managed to put it in words much better than I could. I felt like a weirdo for some time, dropping out of a wellpaid job, but reading all your replies actually helped a lot. I felt know for some time that I'll never find my dream job, but your second suggestion is even better. It's maybe easier to navigate limitations than starting completely new. Thank you. And congrats to you, Almus! Well done!

I always thought a dream job is the one that gives you the most joy. Not the job that's expected of you or that simply pays a lot of money. All the money in the world doesn't matter if you're miserable. Good luck to you, Anneri. I'm sure things will work out for you. Staying true to yourself is one of life's biggest challenges, and you've already succeeded.
