MAC - Surf Baby Discussion

If you liked that foiled/metallic kinda look and you are willing to look outside of Mac, Mufe has metal powders very similar to the gold pigment in STO. They come in about 4 different shades of gold and they are gorgeous(and they don't melt).

I would hate a melted gold. I will check out the Mufa shimmer powder at Sephora tomorrow, thanks for the tip. And I might play with STO a bit to see if I still want it.

Liba. He's probably like "what??". It's funny have to have different perspectives like ours. You just have to weigh the pros and cons. So much depends on your personally expectations, what you already own and what a product actually does on your skin.
So true, hon!!

Probably the two biggest deciding factors would be if you want sheer/not sheer and how many colors in the stack do you actually want.

I was in the market for a new gold and silver, along with the those sort of not quite green/not quite blue colors and everyone here knows I'm the head cheerleader for Team Sheer. I knew it was up between getting the stack or potentially spending a lot more on individual colors from Semi-Precious. I used to be a MUFE fan way back when there was only one store in town you could get them at, but since I tossed my old makeup and decided to start fresh, I've been back to being a MAC loyalist, primarily for the price point to innovation ratio and the really super customer service the folks at my usual store lavish on me. I've always been pretty heavily brand faithful when it comes to what I put on my face - my history goes: Diane Von Furstenburg (late 70' - early 80's), Shisedo (80's), MAC (90's), MUFE/Urban Decay (00's), giant, years-long makeup break, and now back to MAC.

I bought Gold-Go-Lightly yesterday! Krazy Kahua - thank God I tried it on first because I really hated the way it looked on me!!! I must remember what a Chanel MA told me last Dec, that I don't look good in brown lip colors because they make me look dull & sallow. *shudders*

I'm thinking if I should go back for Solar Riche. I haven't heard anybody talking about it here.

Liba, are you saying that STO goes on sheer? I am on team sheer too.
It's like the base the pigment is suspended in is sheer, but the pigment itself is highly reflective and pretty dense, so from some angles it looks totally opaque and other angles it looks sheer, depending on how the light hits it.

You can do cool stuff like put it over shadows that are a different color and get a duochrome effect. I like using the neutral colors in Summer Stash over purples or peaches, also i've tried the light green and the silver over Sun Blonde and gotten a cool look where it makes the pigment look more opaque and then you'll turn your head and just see Sun Blonde with a lot of shine over it.

Hooooooray! Surf Baby was finally released on Monday here in NZ, and today I went and picked up Hibiscus lipstick & My Paradise blush :) My lovely partner lent me his credit card so I could pick them up before they sold out. I'll most likely go back for Swell Baby e/s next week (if I'm not in labour, that is - I'm pregnant & my due date is this Sunday!) and I might get a better look at Gilded White eyeliner. Sun Blonde e/s is very pretty but I'm not sure what I'd wear it with - any e/s combination ideas for NC15 skin, light brown hair & green eyes? Thanks in advance :)

Solar riche is loved by a very fair youtube make up girl "vintageortacky"... So.... I dont know. And i like how it looks on me. After you said LLB was red and better i looked at swatches but cant seem to find the difference lol. Im NC10 so... Im not sure...
It was pulling very orange one me. Meh! This was an easy pass!

SR was too orange-brown for my taste, whereas LLB is more of a rose-red-brown, which I do prefer any day for my NW20 skin. I am glad you like your SR. Are you wearing it as a blush/contour or all over? If you can, grab a LLB or GGL as the texture is amazingly smooth. They glide on my skin like butter but have a semi-matte finish

PS: I also found it hard to see the difference in the swatches. Bronzers seem to be hard to swatch, especially as most of us will sheer them out quite a bit, so it will look different than a heavy product swatch.

I'm still on the fence about Surf USA! I swatched it last week and its sooo pretty!!
I'd say get it as long as it still around. I though it would work on blue eyes, but I love it on my lower lash-line as an accent color. Anyway, I know how you feel as I am still debating whether to get STO or not.

Ooooh, I really like your passionate description of STO. Now I just need the final push to hit the order button. Lol.

I'd pair it with blues and greens! Go and get Surf USA, if you can, both colours are stunning together!

Have a safe delivery!

I love Surf USA! I have been using it a bunch as eyeliner with neutral or golden eyeshadow... I just got Sun Blonde too so I bet it would look great with that. I haven't tried it over my whole lid yet, but I think it would make a great crease color.
