Hello! I've been lurker for a while, but I read about 15 pages and I can't seem to find my answers or I overlooked it. Can you ladies help me out by letting me know if the lipsticks, msfs and individual shadows are pro discount available? I read that the sets arent. Thank you so much!!! <3
Yes, we always get our discount on the individual items.

Well for one they're not your photos and for 2 they posted it with your watermark on it therefore never claimed it was theirs and definately never misinterpreted it ? :S when someone posts a picture with someone else's watermark on it they are giving credit to that person and not stealing the pic or doing anything wrong. Isn't that what watermarks are for
Posting someone elses image is stealing the pic even if it is watermarked, thats what the copyright and immaterial rights laws regulate. So I disagree with that. Posting something after asking for permission on the other hand is fine.

But, the poster complaining (the one who watermarked the photo) stole the photo from a member here in the first place.

I wasnt commenting on that ordeal, purely that watermarks are put on images to prevent people from "borrowing" them, not to make it okay for people to borrow it. It seems to be some sort of misconception, just wanted to clear it up.

Sure , I guess . But personally I don't see it as stealing when she was just showing it to us, not using it to her benefit on a blog or something .. We all saw the watermark on it so we knew who owned the pic *shrug* regardless for her to come on here asking for it to be removed when it's actually itsbcozirock's photo she watermarked is a bit stupid

I sort of disagree. When you share on the internet it it hard to expect others not to share it. I understand giving credit but I think it is unreasonable to expect that it would not be shared anywhere else.It isn't a pic of a family or a baby from Facebook.

The girl I took them from, her name is Karla, I watermark my photos regardless. But I gave her credit stating the photos weren't mine. I didn't get the pictures from Specktra. I never even came on here til today. I was given the screenshot of the specktra post from another member who is in here stating some girl took my photo from my IG & didn't claim any credit. So I'm just trying to figure out who made that post.

I think this is the wrong thread for this, but as I said before; Copyright and immaterial right laws regulate all of that. Whether it's an image of a baby or a picture of an eyeshadow they are equally protected according to the laws (Regardless of watermarks). But I think most people would be willing to share if they are just asked for permission first, atleast I know I happily do. Lets just stick on topic though :) If anyone wants to discuss immaterial rights you are welcome to PM me.

I understand that once your photo is online, it's for everyone I see & take! I get that! I'm not complaining about that. What I wasn't liking was that this person took the photo, didn't give credit or even asked me from my IG to repost & misinterpreted the whole entire photo. I asked to repost the original photos & have credit where it's due! & gave correct information. I'm not over here to be catty but if the individual is just taking photos, they should be able to give credit regardless if I'm on this website or not.

Honi is correct. When you save someone else's image and upload it, you are technically stealing it. It takes one second to respectfully ask the owner of the image if you can share their image. People like MAC-guy, Erine, Honi, Itsbcuzirock, and others take time to post swatches and take product pics. It may not seem like a big deal to those of us that don't blog or put effort into creating these images, but it sure matters to them. I think a general rule is just ask first before downloading it. Here is a legal explanation: http://writingabluestreak.com/2012/11/stealing-is-stealing-even-if-you-do-it-on-the-internet/ I do agree with pleasantmacabre that it is trifling that melthemua stole the images from itsbcuzirock and is on here claiming to be a victim of theft. Smh...

Idk how to work Specktra but as I said the member from this group is friend with me on FB. That's where she posted her photos. I asked, she responded, I reposted with my watermark. That's it. & the funny thing is pleasantmacabre knows the girl too!

If you aren't the author of the photo, you have no rights to it. Even if it's in your instagram feed. Reposting (even with permission) gives you zero.

The original author (usually the one who took the photo, but sometimes otherwise) is the one with the rights.

The wonderful thing about copyright is that there are a lot of tolerated uses where people just share their work and don't get too upset. But that doesn't give the re-user rights, and as I said earlier, the true owner DOES have a right to get upset if their work is taken.

I'm not playing victim. & idk where to post things of these nature! I really don't. I'm new to this. Never been here until I received the screenshot of the photo. That's it. So sorry if I'm in the wrong board. I'm over it. It was a simple question that turned left. Sorry for the inconvenience Specktra!

Your watermark was on the pic , I don't think she should have to scream out "credit to melthemua" when it was right there on the photo? Anyways if you look at the comment by itsbcozirock she's making it sound like she didn't let you use the photo :/ Maybe you're both confused about who you are on fb vs on here or Instagram ? As she is saying she gave permission to someone to use the photos and you're saying you got permission from her...
The ridiculous part is how meltthemua watermarks pics that obviously don't belong to her, those are all mine, which I already posted here before the Lippy swatches, plus I let my friend borrow them for her IG. The last pic was a comparison request for the FB group.

The wonderful thing about copyright is that there are a lot of tolerated uses where people just share their work and don't get too upset if they're used elsewhere, even when they might have a right too.  Many makeup fans don't get angry about re-uses because they just don't. But that doesn't give the re-user rights, and as I said earlier, the original poster DOES have a right to get upset if their work is taken.
& I get that! The original poster was Karla that posted the photos to an FB group & I asked her if I may repost her photos. She claimed it were her photos. That was her bathroom in the photos & left it at that! So I'm takin her word over anything else cause she has proof! But you're right. I can't argue against that.

Could it be that your friend is Specktra member Itsbcuzirock, and that although she gave you permission to repost the photos, she didn't give you the ok to watermark them as your own? I don't think you are trying to do anything malicious. I think we are all trying to make sense of this...
