Maybe I should go out to Starbucks... I have a coupon for a pumpkin spice latte and people keep talking about them.

OooOoOoOooo I want one of those sooooo badly. I went to the local Starbucks and they don't sell that flavor in Germany. Next year I'll be back in the states and I WILL have one. Right now I just have to listen to everyone else talk about how great it is that the Pumpkin spice lattes are back for fall. Oh well.

Just joined I have been a lurker here everyday since 2012, never thought to join I first came here to find what my son ( who passed away) found so interesting here. he wanted to be a MUA and this was a site he visited everyday.

Since coming here I now have what you can call a makeup collection I was never a makeup buyer my makeup consisted of those freebies that you get from macys , dillards when you spend x amount so I would time my skin care purchases around these free gifts.

anyway I just joined because I was reading the threads about e-bay and realized how a lurker could be viewed.

I think this place is great I have learned so much and I think this is a great site. Specktra should get commission from Mac cause all the excitement you guys create sure makes you feel like you need to buy all the collections.

anyway I am not Technologically savvy, but I come here before I buy any makeup and not only Mac. I just purchased my first Dior, Guerlain, and now Chanel just because of pictures and conversation I saw on this site.

which I don't think I ever would have purchased if not for the opinions of people here.

If coming here were not so easy I don't think I would have found this special place.

I'm not too fond of the fee idea. If someone is really here just to be alarmed when a collection is live so they can buy to resell they will happily pay that fee. I don't think it would keep those folks away.

THIS is why I'm here. I joined up yesterday after YEARS of lurking around Specktra, especially the MAC boards. I figured I'm always here trying to get some swatches or see how something looks on NC45 skin, so maybe I should create an account so that I can also contribute to those swatches.

I was reading through yesterday & saw the alphas, but figured I just wasn't in the know. When I came back this morning (still huntin' them swatches, y'all! lol!), a sweet lady had offered to have people PM her to get the scoop, so I figured I'd take her up on the offer.

Now I feel crappy knowing that someone might think I just joined to find out what the code was or to jump on y'alls coattails as a reseller.

My HUSBAND probably wishes I was a reseller since he also doesn't understand why I need ALL THE BACKUPS, but I'm just here for me! Hahaha!

Anyway. I guess I'll just try to stay active, participate where I can, and get to know you fun ladies!

I agree. I also pay 40 bucks on another forum. I don't think it is absurd. It's just a way to keep trolls out of forums and to maintain the quality of posts. I see it as an investment in my leisure time, thus I'm happy to pay for it. Yes, $25-40 seems a lot, but it is per year. Given the fact how much we - and I largely generalize here - spent in general on make up, it doesn't seem a lot (although I certainly acknowledge that it is $$$).

Good point. I think the majority of members purchase AT LEAST $50 bucks worth of crap from every release.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure others can relate as they had similar experiences. I stopped posting reviews, color stories or provide swatches (I'm talking about the early ones 2 - 3 weeks before the official release) as I got burnt by bloggers or other forums that blatantly stole my pics or copied my review without my consent. About a year ago, it got to the point where it was extremely frustrating to see that the info (including the little bugs I inserted) I posted on Spectra was floating around on other blogs, thus I decided to stop posting any information on new collections. I'm certain that this is the reason why others also stopped posting or at least don't post as much any more. It seems to be a common problem, but there is no solution.

Totally understand this. A small percentage of members have this kind of insight and access to information and who wants to share if it is going to bite them in the behind?

I think $25 would be ok. Honestly. It would be worth it to get the old Specktra vibe back. Hell as much as we pay for makeup, that is a drop in the bucket.

Jesus didn't cradle our makeup purchases in his arms before we ordered, but that doesn't make us value the purchase any less lol. The price levels mentioned so far don't seem to require one to be swimming in cash. If one can afford two lippies plus backups from every release (which I think is a normal, and small order a lot of us) one can afford what has been proposed in regards to a paid membership...

I can't wait to see EE and YGI... swatches on deeper skin tones.

MEEEE TOOOOOO that's all I ordered! Now that I've caught up... Neither the notion of a fee or increased post/contribution count really makes me feel any kind of way. Both could irk me though because who wants to REALLY pay, but at the same time what person that buys over $25 in makeup multiple times a month can REALLY complain about a fee. Then with an increased post requirement the quality of discussions that are open will go down dramatically with ppl trying to hit that magic number. I feel like either way ppl will be agitated, but at the end of the day we have a choice to go with whatever is decided or not. Just depends on how much getting that early info and sharing info is important to you personally...

Keyboard gangsters!!! I love that!! I saw a really really nasty comment on a video the other day. Curiosity got the best of me and I checked out their other comments. They are all ugly nasty comments. I saw that someone asked her if being nasty on youtube was her hobby and she replied to them saying that she was just expressing herself and being honest. WTF is that?? I bet she wouldn't walk up to say something like that to someone's face. People scare me lol!

That's my main issue with keyboard gangstering. So much mouth behind a keyboard, but would probably never say that to someone's face. It's fine I guess to think whatever you think about someone but feel like everything you think doesn't need to be said... or in this case typed. Sometimes it's ok to not say anything.
