I really don't understand the hostility towards "new members"...just because I just joined Specktra doesn't mean I have been "lurking" before-I never had to-I worked for MAC and always had the inside scoop anyways! I joined because I thought this would be a fun community with like-minded people who have a passion for all things MAC. I just thought I would try and put peoples' minds at ease by letting you know I'm not in it for resale purposes, and then I am met with a less than welcoming attitude. That's just sad and ridiculous.
I haven't seen any hostility against new members. I am a new member as well. I hope you did not take the "poking fun" at the ebay resellers as directed towards you. All members are welcome to specktra whether they're new to makeup or MUAs.

This poor thread has been nothing but drama.... I really feel like some people don't read actual posts. Instead, they just skim and read a few words and come up with "hostility to newbies". Everyone was a newbie for the most part, that's just silly. -_- ... And then ignorance causes drama for people who indeed are new lol... going back to wait for swatches now. That one post just got me a little amped up lol.

There were several negative comments about me in particular when I asked what a certain "code" was all about. I genuinely thought it was something having to do with what MAC as a company was doing. I had no idea until someone pm'd me what it really was. Then people got up in arms when someone said they om'd me because I was so new to the community. I replied that they didn't need to worry, I am not an ebay reseller, and now it's become a credibility issue. Of course, if I was one, I wouldn't admit it, of course, but I was just trying to be friendly....unlike some others here...

Hi Everyone,
I was just wanted to add my two cents. Ive been a "lurker" for a bit and did eventually join however I haven't been posting and most of the time I don't sign in. The reason why I come to this site is to see swatches and other peoples thoughts on the new MAC collections. I like to get an idea of what I want before I go to the MAC counter. So Thank you to everyone who has ever posted swatches or their thoughts on the new collections. I think its awful that someone would steal someone else swatches to pass them off as their own. I would never do that and any swatches that I view here I only use them for my own information. I don't post very often because I am not a make up expert by any means and my "collection" is still in its beginning stages. I think I only own 8 MAC lipsticks (I only started collecting lipstick with the Baking Beauties Collection). Again I would just like to thank everyone who takes the time to post swatches and review on products I find it very helpful. I would be a little sad if this site became a pay site or there were restrictions on posts I could see.

I don't see any hostility towards you. Some people just come right on in and join the conversations. Fine. Some say hi, I'm a new member. Some say hi, I'm a new member and I'm coming out of hiding/lurking. I just think some people were thrown off that you came in and your first post is about pm'ing you a code. You didn't lurk but yet you knew about a code that prompted you to register asking for it. I didn't see anyone accuse you of being here for resale purposes either. Maybe I missed it? You might not be here for resale purposes but there are some that ARE. I get why that could have some people here perturbed.

Well asking for the code in your first post was rude. I am not being mean but honest. That is just poor etiquette for any forum to not introduce yourself etc.

I think it looks darker and more grey (on her). But Nude was light on me but not TOO light. Still wearable without liner, but I like it better with gloss. I feel like if EE is a little darker like I suspect it is, it will suit me even better. I got two, so it BETTER lol. Oh the quest for the perfect nude lip for a WOC continues lol... I just want to be able to swipe it on and go! No liner, no gloss, just lipstick!
hen you find that baby help a sista out. I been searching....

There have been some comments made about how if someone WAS an ebay seller, they wouldn't admit it, and watch your back, etc. I felt like because people were so angry that someone had pm'd me about the code, I needed to let you know I was NOT an ebayer. Simple as that. Yes, I agree-too much drama!

Welcome LYNLEE. A lot of people here aren't experts either. Most here just have a love for makeup. If you're just beginning your collection and you hang around Specktra, expect that collection to grow handsomely.

Don't take it personal. This is a problem that's been around probably for a long time. Although I do get why some of the older members who have been contributing a lot to this site have some objections to new members that get all the benefits without posting themselves. Specktra does have some rules and I understand that if you're new you do not know all of them straight away, so I don't blame you. They did take your post to set an example, not to blame and shame you.

Girl, nobody is in here is being mean. Some people want to keep a certain manner in here and want people to be on this website to be actually active versus just coming to getting the scoop and then bouncing. Think of it as if you really come and put your hard work into something and then instead of people coming together and talking about the work or helping you work, they just take your work and run with it and then just keep coming back, and doing the same thing. It's not personal, bc nobody personally knows you. People are just tired, and rightfully so. Just give it some time and talk among people and you will not feel that way. HTH :)

Whew it took my like an hour to catch up on all the drama and discussion in this thread! :worms: I'm one who also disagrees with the fee idea.  I think I would be forced to leave in that case and don't think it would deter evilbayers who are making enough money on ebay that a fee would be a drop in the bucket to them.  I acknowledge that I don't have a better idea though.  Man I am dying to get PP cremesheen glass but I've sworn off them because of the price compared to hpw much product you get.  I mean I think I worked out once that per oz it's more expensive than Chanel glossimers.  Anyone else in this boat?
Is it really? Smh. That sucks. I'm glad I refrained from picking up FfF csg then. Although, I did get the other 3, sooooo... What's another $22 (plus tax) among friends? Smdh.
