So here’s the rest of my adventures in buying this collection…
I decided not to stalk on line because my internet connection was acting up (good thing that I didn’t what with all the crazy shenanigans going on with the MAC website) and because I haven’t been sleeping well - it’s been hot. I got up early because I had a plan- first my MAC counter at Century 21 (C21) in lower Manhattan. If it wasn’t there, then onto MAC Times Square or MAC Macys Herald Square.
I was one of the first people at the MAC counter at C21. There was only one other woman there who was buying for her sister who lives out of state. I had expected hordes of people at the store (ala the Riri collection) because it was hyped so much but there was no line or anything. One funny thing was when I asked how many lipsticks that I could buy (I was also buying for a friend) and my MAC guy said that limit was 12 of each color. I thought about it for a moment (yeah let me buy up all the collection and thwart those evilbayers!) but only got what was on my list.
Next I checked out MAC Times Square as well as MAC Macys Herald Square. It was the same thing – no lines and it seemed as if they had adequate stock. I don’t know if it was because the stores had just opened or if everyone assumed that the collection was sold out already. If you are in New York City, I would suggest going to/ calling various stores early to see if they still have the collection.
And MAC, would it have killed you to do a beta test of your website, running it by the Specktrettes before you launched it? We could have told you that it is too busy, too hard to use, etc….. Why wait to unveil a website that is not user friendly until everyone and their mother is trying to order from a highly anticipated collection?
