In terms of color saturation La Raffinee is alot like Mehr, so if you were comfortable or uncomfortable with Mehr I think you'd feel similarly about La Raffinee.

Anneri, I'm not sure how I missed your post earlier, but thanks for your review. La Somptueuse sounds like one I might like as the red on the sample card is too blue-based for me as well. Can't wait to see your pic!

I wonder if we'll be getting La Distinguee in the US? It's not on Karla's Sneak Peek chart. Bummer.

^^I checked Harrod's online, but they only have the powder. I want a lipstick and a gloss, too! I don't even know if they would ship to the US anyways -- and it would probably be a small fortune!
I love those white double C's on the pink powder -- I'm totally obsessed . . . .

I think you should totally buy it and have it sent to your sister's address :) LOL
I just saw all this & baby I am so with you on it. I WANTTTTTT

I was just disappointed that La Raffinee in person was darker than any pictures I've seen of it. I also think we may not have gotten the same shades as the U.S., which is almost always the case. The one that Gail had mentioned, La Caline was not part of our 8 shades. So if that's one of the U.S. exclusive shades and I like the swatches, I'll have to CP that eventually!

Gail, I do need to mention that La Distinguee was quite warm. The lighting at the counter that I go to is horrible, so I hope it ends up working.

I'm glad I got Confidentielle though, especially since both of you like it so much!

Oh, and I was also given a sample of the new No 19 (poudre?). Haven't tried it yet, but the light green fragrance in the classic rectangular glass bottle looks so elegant and pretty!

I saw your post after I submitted the above post! Maybe we got La Distinguee instead of La Caline. Now I have to do a comparison to see if there are any others.

ETA, I checked the two lists, and it's only the one's mentioned above that are different, the other seven are the same. Go figure.

^^ Yeah we need that powder! And I love how the lipsticks look too. Pink RAs, we can never get enough of them. I don't have Confidentialle but I have the extrait de gloss. I like it a lot, and now you ladies are really tempting me to get the RA.

winthrop - I gave Mehr a quick swatched at the counter as it was sold out when I was there. Is La Raffinee as dry?

Thanks for your review! I am not sold on them at the moment as having to put lip balm first is not sounding good. I have dry lips too. I haven't look at the mattenes so I don't know how dry they are. Enjoy your Confidentialle. Does the colour shows up nicely? I have pigmented lips too, so we are lips twins. Boo on releasing location specific shades again. I'm just confused at the moment, I'll wait till I see what my counters get. Very lucky that you got the new No 19 sample! Let us know what you think of it. My counters don't give out fragrance samples easily. I gave it a spray on my skin, and I quite like it. Much more wearable than the old No 19 to me, but it stays very linear, and I read reviews saying it doesn't last more than 2 -3 hours, so it didn't get very good reviews by perfume experts. I like the bottle too.

No, the RA Velvets do not feel drying on me, they feel very comfortable. But keep in mind I only tried samples and of course had to try all the colors right away (and several times each) so I have not worn one for a full day or anything...plus I don't tend to have dry lip issues, one of the few skin issues I don't have! lol I also find the mattenes comfortable on. But...I understand what Nora is saying about La Raffinee. To me all mattes are sort of "in your face" colors, even the more mellow colors to an extent just because of the color saturation.

Good morning ladies!

MissQQ, I tried No 19 on this morning and at first I thought it was insanely strong, but now that's it's been on for a couple of hours, it's rather pretty. My only issue is that it has the same kind of "Chanel" influence that a lot of their fragrances have, in that I can't smell the pretty floral qualities of it unless I specifically stick my wrist up to me nose, but I feel like the "powdery" part of the scent surrounds me, does that make sense? Lasting power so far on me is fine.

Also, I wanted to add that I'm not sure if the RA velvets are necessarily drying, because I didn't find the mattenes to be all that drying and I haven't worn the RA's for an extended period of time. However, if your lips are at all dry, the texture will definitely accentuate that! Most lipsticks, even the one's that claim to be really moisturizing do tend to have a drying effect on me, just a matter of which formulas are the least so. So I'm going to guess that these won't be any different. The mattenes, being a matte texture, weren't too bad because I think (may be wrong), but I think they were silicone base, unlike the older matte lipsticks. (Gail, you're usually knowledgable with formulas and ingredients, please feel free to comment if I'm wrong!).

^^ Good morning! Night time here.

I get what you mean about Chanel's fragrances. I don't like floral scents on me so in a way I like Chanel's scents. Floral scents on me drive me crazy, but I like it on other women. Same here, most lipsticks have a drying effect on me. Try using gloss over them. So far only Burberry is really moisturizing, I go through all day today just wearing the lipstick without any gloss or balm. However, I notice there is some slip as the colour moves out of my lip line slightly, but the slip doesn't cause the colour on the lips to be patchy, which Chintz is guilty of on my lips.

winthrop - Thanks on the comments on the velvets, they make a lot of sense. Great that you don't have dry lips. Mine are quite a pain as I have to be constantly aware to put something on. Sometimes I get engrossed with work and I forget, and they will hurt or worse, crack. But the good thing is I have an excuse to buy lipsticks and lipglosses because I use them all the time.

And here are my swatches! But before that, re the question 'dry or not', I agree that if you have dry lips, the Velvets will be drying. Personally I like to apply balm before I do my mu, and then after 15 minutes or so, I apply the lipstick. The matte look remains matte that way.
I also agree that those are bold colours. Together with the matte finish they create a really eyecatching look. That's something some will hate, some will hate - it's up to personal taste, I think. I love this look for fall!

upper row: (left to right): La Ravissante, La Distingue (the tester was broken and I was unable to swatch it correctly), La Raffinee
lower row: La Exuberante, La Fascinante, La Somptueuse

lower row: La Sensuelle, L'Exquise

I hope I didn't mix the names up!!! (I tried to swatch in the right order of the numers, beginning with 32 and ending with 41.)

Wonderful swatches. Thanks so much! Pretty sure I will "need" La Distinguee. I wonder if it may turn up as an LE store exclusive here?

Great news: 0911EYE for free shipping with any purchase on Chanel.com from 9/15 thru 10/31. YAY!

Anneri, thanks for the swatches! I think I want La Raffinee still. The reds look so pretty, but that may be a shade I have to try out in person. Did you pick any up?

Gail -- thanks for the code! I try to only buy when there is free shipping -- so yay!

Thank u for the great swatches Anneri :) I know I want La Ravissante and La Sensuelle for sure. The rest I have to try on. I will also get some Mattenes though. They're my fave MAC lipsticks and I don;t understand why on Earth they won't just make them perm. They're not drying on me at all

Thanks for the wonderful swatches, Anneri!

Count me in for La Sensuelle! I find these velvet names really hard to spell! I'm quite sure La Raffinee is the one I'm buying first, and maybe La Distingue, if it is not too peachy. Which is the one that the model is wearing, La Fascinate?

Thanks so much for the swatches Anneri! La Sensuelle is coming home with me no doubt--been needing a nice plum/raisin color in my lip stash. Unsure about La Exuberante, La Fascinate, and La Somptuese. LE might be too cool/bright, but if it's like a matte Gulabi I'll be all over it. LF looks to be a pretty soft red but I worry it might be too soft, and LS looks like it may be too blue for my skintone.

Of course, I'm a bit more tan than most of the swatchers out there so who knows how these may look on me. o.o

I think you don't have to worry about La Somptueuse - that's the one I raved about earlier (and got myself), and there is no blue in it at all.

MissQQ, yes, I think it's La Fascinante in the promo pics. I wish I could wear that kind of blue-based reds!

I tried the Matte Lipsticks when I was in Paris. I really liked the feel and look of them, I don't know why I didn't buy one then. Now I have to wait for when they are released in the US.

My local counter said their order of Velvets has already shipped, so they should arrive any day now. They're going to call me when they come in, and will set aside La Sensuelle, La Sompteuse, La Exuberante, and La Fascinate for me to check out as they're sure they'll sell out of their first batch quickly. I'm excited!
