MAC - Cult of Cherry Discussion

I've never actually had a makeover at MAC. I always do my own.

i'm thinking of picking up:

-lightly ripe
-so scarlet
-jampacked
-cherry blossom (i hate sugar trance so not sure i'll like this one..)

Blooming is very light. Honestly, if you have other pink blushes (and I think you do), you can skip it. Plum du Bois is pretty. Neither blush is a must have so I would say wait to see it in person.

good, because on me sugar trance is a very pale sparkley color that's not too flattering for my skintone

I dont think so, it's not very unique. Its a pretty milky pink but thats a very average and standard lipglass color.

Wow. What a collection.

I picked up:

• LG: Rich and Ripe, Cult of Cherry, Liqueur, Jampacked
• LS: So Scarlet
• Mattene: Rapturous, Kirsch
• All 3 quads
• Plum du Bois blush
• Silverstroke NL
• The Overrich Pigments

I so love the Cult of Cherry collection. It is so lip-centric. Cult of Cherry gloss is hot! It looks like red foil on the lips. Kirsch and Jampacked both rock. So Scarlet is just frickin' ridiculously sexy. I know DH will be sending me back to the store to buy backups of Cult of Cherry gloss and So Scarlet!! lol

Plum du Bois is even prettier in person. It has a nice shimmer to it that I really didn't see in any of the photos. Blooming is pretty too, but is just too close to colours I already have.

Smudged Violet is gorgeous. Sharp is, well, sharp. Love 'em.

My surprise addition to my haul was Liqueur. Really nice. Smashing over "O" LS.

Silverstroke NL is really nice. It has a pretty rose tint to it, IMO. I skipped Illegal Purple, because: 1) Those dark, purply, berry colours are a dime a dozen this season and I can get that colour anywhere and 2) Dude....I spent so much frickin' dough! lol That was my one attempt at being frugal.

Speaking of being shitty at being frugal: I will definitely brake my "no more backups" rule that I keep trying to impliment and get another: CoC gloss, So Scarlet LS and a Plum du Bois blush.

You want the reach the epicenter of sexy? Try Lustrewhite lustreglass over Russian Red or So Scarlet. I'm just saying. Wear this with caution. Men (or women) will be on you like white on rice. Hot.

The pigments all rock. Love them all. Yum yum.

Oh, forgot to mention....

I had a thought when I first got wind of the dark lips trend and again when I saw the Cult of Cherry Mattenes, I thought to myself, "Hmmmm...this is a look that can potentially go really wrong on a good amount of women."

I'll tell you why. Kirsh is about as dark as I could go. My dark hair, dark eyes and NW20-25 skin don't mix with any of the darker mattenes. I looked just as I suspected I would, like I was being asphyxiated. I looked like I was slowly being strangled and needed oxygen.

Maybe that's what they meant by "crime scene"???? lol

Ladies, prepare for interventions. You know one of your friends will get caught up in this trend, put good judgement aside and rock the asphyxia look.

Jampacked over Bing can reeeaallly lighten it up. I find the mattene and the gloss just aren't the best of friends, so things don't stay super dark. It's fun.

I'm loving my "asphyxia" look.

And, actually, I really like the word asphyxia. Odd, I know, but I just love the combination of letters and the feel of it in the mouth.

Just left Nordies with my haul! I ended up getting:

*all three quads
*Jampacked lg
*So Scarlet and O lippies
*Kirsch, Bing, and Chock-ful mattenes (have Rapturous already)
*Vintage Gold pigment

However, am contemplating Cherry Blossom. I do agree with blindpassion though about it being a typical milky pink color and lord know I have PLENTY of those...more like too many...

This is a totally new color for me, and I really like it. And are you ready?!?!? Kirsch AND Bing Mattenes: SO SO SO in love with these. I waivered about these both quite a long time before I bit the bullet and added them to my haul. They ARE dark, but wearable. Beautiful shades of eggplant and cranberry. I came home and put on chapstick, dotted these on my lips, rubbed them together and added a bit of Jampacked l/g over. PERFECTION. Seriously, I don't think you guys understand how excited I am. This is a whole new world for me and I feel surprisingly comfortable. I did my eyes very light today. Vanilla e/s on the lid, Smoke and Diamonds in the crease, Solar White to highlight, Blacktrack to line. It is a perfect look with the darker lips. I can't wait for my hubby to see! (Too bad I have to wait til next weekend since he is 1000 miles away! ) Now that I have tried the mattenes, I may go back for more lip stuff, and the Plum de Bois blush. It is a pretty plummy color with sparkle, but I am worried it might turn muddy on me. I want to see pics of a few NW15-20 wearing it before I buy. I resisted the other 2 quads because I couldn't take my eyes off of the mattenes Ok, enough babbling. I am making my DARK lippies run!

Thanks for the reviews. Have you seen my list just grow? I added two Mattenes... Where will this end?
