YOU know makeup gets old?...mascara- ONLY 3mths , lipstick -3-4 YRS, Eyeshadows- 2-4 yrs....foundation and blush - 3 YRS....so really u wanna throw out you makeup stash after 4-5 yrs...it builds bacteria we cannot see....and it can create chemical reactions to your eyes and skin...ppl have all this makeup...throw it out after a while...so im trying to not buy so much and use what i have. just saying:)

I turn over my mascara religiously and have no trouble finishing primer and foundation in a reasonable time period, but I'm comfortable keeping powder products longer than 2-3 years. I use a clean brush each time and don't introduce moisture to them (either water or Fix +) so I don't think there's the same risk of bacteria as there is with cream products.

I used up a couple of blush over the better part of a decade and had no ill effects. I'd have been more concerned if I used filthy brushes. I won't be tossing my MAC e/s palettes either - no way I'll get through 40 odd colours in 2 years! Erinn, should I perhaps be sanitizing them in some way to lengthen the life? Spritzing with alcohol? I don't currently do anything special with them.

I've bought virtually all of my makeup within the last 2 years so it's pretty new. I keep my few backup lippies and foundation I'm not using in the fridge to lengthen their lifespan.

Quick car selfie of my lip combo today- this is You've Got It lipstick over Mehr lipstick, finished off with Demure dazzleglass creme from last years purple lip set.

Gorg! Mehr is a dupe for the I Love Winter from Glitter & Ice/Ice Parade (Holiday 2011), right? I love ILW and when I finish it I will pick up Mehr. Thanks for sharing this!

Anyone like to buy a BNIB Centre Of Attention MSF? It would be shipped from USA to USA with DC. Never even gotten it myself(I live in Finland). :D Please help and PM if you're interested in buying the MSF. :)
This should be posted in the Clearance Bin.

I got Talk of the Town. The MAC description is soooo waaaaay off: “warm brown base with yellow bronze”, my hind quarters! After reading that i was sure it would be a bronze that would not work on me at all. In reality, it is a sheer, pale, warm pink with amazing golden shimmer. Well, shimmer is really the wrong word. There are no glittery bits in it. It just glows when the light hits it. I think it's probably better for those with a warm complexion, but could work on some with a cool complexion. On me, 15-20 Neutral, it is a blush - definitely adds color - and a highlight all in one. On a darker complexion i suspect it will just be a highlight, but a gorgeous one.

I also bought Center of Attraction; i haven't used it yet, but i did test it. It's basically a two-tone highlighter. Since i have a "thing" for gold makeup, i couldn't pass it up - in fact, i originally thought it would be the ONLY MSF i'd get from this collection. The main light color is like TotT in that it is sheer and pale but has an amazing glow - lest i confuse anyone, it is a completely different color than TotT. Meanwhile, the darker part is VERY gold and does have some sparkly bits in it, so it's only a highlighter and not for all over the face. If you don't like bits in your makeup, you won't like this part much. But do test the lighter part. I think it's pretty and pretty special. This one, i suspect, is only for warm complexions. But if you have a reason to wear gold makeup, this is a good thing to have in your cosmetic arsenal.
Exactamundo! TotT is the sleeper product of this collection. I am SO glad I tried in person, because this is the highlighter I have been looking for and cannot believe it isn't getting more love!

All cosmetics wholesale will gut the sets and sell them later next year, which is what I count on if I want individual things like just the bag, a fluidline or a pigment vial. Of course, Dark Deed will be next to impossible to get, but if you just want one mini product or thing like the bag, that is what I do! E-bay works for that too, but ACW is my go to. Not affiliated, just a loyal customer and there items have all been authentic for me. HTH
I've always wondered about that site. Thanks for this.

Ooh, I love Unconventional. I use it as a topper brightener/highlight on my blushes since I do not have the skintone to pull off that color as a straight up blush. I love it.

I did laser hair removal (also underarms) in my 30s. I couldn't be bothered to keep up with it - you can't tell now that I ever had it done. It doesn't result in a permanent reduction of hair and since it only takes a moment to shave it's not worth it to me.
I have done laser hair removal on my upper lips and IPL on my underarms. I can tell you, laser hair removal made me cry from the extreme heat (I don't know if it's the technician who really sucks ass or if all laser hair removal methods are that much torture). After 4 sessions, I saw no effect and gave up. It wasn't worth it sitting there for 5 minutes feeling like someone is burning the skin off my face. Never again. On the other hand, IPL is painless and results are instantaneous - the hair falls out a few days after the first session and the regrowth is already very fine and soft. It's been 7 years since I first did IPL (took about 10 sessions over a year and a half or so to fully eradicate) and now I can go all year without shaving at all - there's hardly any hair and even if there is, it's so fine that only I can see it. When I go in for my yearly "maintenance", sometimes the doctor says it's not even necessary.

I wonder if this is going to be a constant thing with MAC..... having the pro discount available only AFTER a collection has launched?
Oh gawd! Please don't do that MAC! Basically I would never be able to use my discount on LE collections at all... as we all know how quickly things sell out and the randomness of the restocks. Then, I'm sure they'd plan their restocks to hit before our discounts kick in. It would be a HUGE disappointment. I'm not going to say the thought didn't cross my mind. 2 collections in a row with delayed PRO discount (RiRi Fall and DN) definitely has me wondering that myself. Guess I've gotten spoiled with my PRO privileges... early releases, normal discount application...
Maybe 2014 will be the year I focus more on other brands I love and stick to my MAC PRO discount for my go-to perm products exclusively. It's hard to stalk, budget, and plan for collections when there's so much mystery now. Maybe I need to hold back and hope MAC-hype dies down a little so MAC can get back to basics and its loyal customers. I blame RiRi.

Smiley you look adorable. You're "name" fits you.

So I received my violet bag yesterday. I don't have the original Dark Deed but this one seems dark enough. It's certainly darker than my bright reds, but not as dark as Love Peck (kissable lip color) or those colors I have that border on purple. Therefore I have no dupes and I love it. It does pair perfectly with Vino. The coverage was great and I love the feel of the finish. Now I have no idea what I'll do with the CSG that came with it. I don't like CSGs in the first place because of their short wear time and I don't have any particular lipsticks that this will play nicely with. I'm guessing my niece will love it in her Christmas stocking.

I laugh every time I read the violet bag. There isn't one thing remotely violet about any of it. Not the bag, not the contents. Nothing! The dark red bag didn't work I guess.

This is really pretty on you! I swatched it this past weekend and if I would've seen these pictures before I swatched it, I may have bought it. I didn't think it was all that special so I left it there but it looks really good on you.
You look really adorable (but in a grown/gorgeous way).  I had to pair mine with MAC Quite the Thing! so it didn't look so "grandma-esque" on me.  I briefly debated on returning it until the two colors met and fell in love :eyelove:
 ....gorgeous, smileyt06!
 It suits you well! I ordered Private Party today from Bloomingdale's.
