Pet supply stores sell grooved gloves that are very similar. Worth a try. Plus more money to spend on makeup!!
Oooooo I may need to pick one of these up! Thank you! I didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a mitt but I wanted something to help clean my brushes without the prune hands hahaha

Is that true even for baked products? I have used a damp angled brush in Stolen Moment EDES so I can use it as liner. It's one of my favourites - hope I haven't turned it into a germ-fest. I thought those were safe to get wet.
Pressed powders only. Baked powders are excluded, as they're meant to be used wet or dy.

BB&B also sell nubby silicone oven mitts for $10.

I'm reasonably light skinned (definitely still NC20 under the arms) and I have medium brown hair. I was a good candidate and it did work - it just didn't last. That was a solid 10 years ago though, so I'm not surprised. It definitely was uncomfortable - I was told to bring bags of frozen peas with me to place under each arm and I was glad I did. It gets plenty hot. Just not worth the pain/cost to maintain when shaving is the work of a few seconds.
Yeah under the arms you get regrowth. It took a long time for it to catch up on me - I still only need to shave there 2-3 times a month, so that's convenient. The best thing were the lower legs - I've never even needed follow-ups on those. I've got probably 10 hairs per leg. It's great! One of these days I will do the rest of the leg, when I'm feeling flush. I was always a lame shaver and would always have cuts and nicks that would take forever to heal, and waxing was a pain in the butt. Whatever works, though! What we do for beauty

Ok, I skipped 10 pages.. Might not have been a good idea. ~Lost~

Pixie, thanks for the mini review on the oven mitt. I'd like one too. I PAY for almost anything that makes my life a little bit easier.

Awe thank you! Your too sweet. Forgot you love Venus as much as I do! Hehe. It's the only lippy I wish I would have bu'd twice! And hate to enable but....it's YGI l/s lol. I'm really loving it! I'd say go for it girl! ;)
Ahhhhhhh SINGER!!! Now you've done it! You KNOW how much I love Venus! Is that layered w YGI lipstick OR CSG? I'm going to pair it w YGI CSG... so I hope that's what you did or you just enabled ANOTHER lippie purchase!! HeeHee Thanks for the suggestion! Loving Venus MORE, is it possible!? You look SOOOOO lovely! WOW! It looks really simple and pretty on you. For more drama try layering it over a darker color like some of the other ladies are doing! Then it's even more versatile! I hope I don't have to go back for this w you girls!!

To be really technical, a good dermatologist uses totally different equipment for hair removal than for skin treatments - you need a system designed specifically for hair if you want to see fast and effective results. All this equipment is extremely expensive, I'd guess and I have heard of clinics that just tell their patients that one machine does it all. IT DOES NOT. So if you are getting a consultation from a doctor, a major question you have to ask is whether they are using different equipment for hair and skin. The modern treatment techniques out there are so much better, but honestly I will have to say that the IPL for my skin was not something to just go into lightly - your skin seriously needs to do some healing afterwards and you have to be extremely careful to stay out of the sun and religiously use sunscreen for the healing process - if you don't, you could wind up damaging your skin even more than before you had the IPL. So, it really has to be something you personally feel you need, not what your parents think. If there are genetic factors involved, there is a limit to what any procedure can do.
Absolutely, the IPL machines are not the same. They don't use the same wavelengths. I just mentioned that it is also a hair removal technique because I think people might be more familiar with it as such than as a skin treatment procedure. I think that I went into the whole laser rejuvenation thing rather reluctantly at the beginning. I had lived with the dark pigmentation on one side of my cheek pretty much for the first 20 years of my life. It did bother me sometimes, but I dismissed these sort of cosmetic procedures as gimmicky and vain. However, after the first treatment (it took only 2) and a consultation with the doctor, I realized that there was some basis to it. I saw that my skin tone was even and clear, the pigmentation was largely gone... All enough to allow me to feel confident enough to stop wearing foundation altogether. The pigmentation hasn't come back, which is good news for me. Furthermore, the fact that I had such a costly treatment done made me realize that to keep up the results, I needed to avoid overexposure in the sun and religiously use sunscreen. Up until then, I even dismissed sunscreen as vain so I am very glad that I had the treatment done now... Especially seeing two weeks ago how much people my age whom I haven't seen in 5 years have really aged! It was at a wedding and I was just shocked to see some people who looked like they were in their 40s when they were in fact in their mid 20s. Sun protection and regular moisturizing really makes the difference. I still use a studio photo that I took when I was 14 in applications that I make today... Nobody could tell it was from 10 years ago (except that I had short hair then).
I think you were really lucky to find a laser hair removal technician who was reliable and honest. From the very basic research I've done most are very very sleazy because it is so lucrative and requires little training. I hope to find someone in the next five years or so, but I'm not too hopeful. It's good to know the it can sometimes only require a few treatments, because many places offer packages and no refunds. I'll keep that in mind for the future.
Having had experience going to both beauty institutes and a trained dermatologist, I recommend the second. The first just tells you to buy a package of n number of treatments, and then when it doesn't have the desired results, they tell you to buy another package... I got fed up very quickly and went to a dermatologist after. No packages and a lot more effective. My dermatologist said that the equipment is of different grades. In a commercial setting, they are not qualified to use medical grade material, therefore the intensity of the IPL is lower and less efficient in a non-medical setting to protect consumers.
It definitely was uncomfortable - I was told to bring bags of frozen peas with me to place under each arm and I was glad I did. It gets plenty hot. Just not worth the pain/cost to maintain when shaving is the work of a few seconds.
Really? You had to bring your own frozen peas? I don't know if it's the fact that you had to supply your own cooling "technology" or the fact that said technology is a bag of peas that bothers me more...

I am considering doing my lower leg next actually! I only wax them currently it is quite inconvenient to have to make an appointment and all (can't seem to get the hang of doing it myself). I like winter months.... I am so envious of men sometimes, they go out and bare their hairy legs without a care, but women are expected by social conventions to groom themselves. RIGHT, back to MAC... I think I am actually skipping the colour collection. Was only interested in Lavish Living, but all this talk about people returning it left and right has left me wondering if it will be suitable for me at all. Will have to wait another 2 weeks before they get here, I think. Ugh!

When I saw the sigma mit launch I went to my local cheapy store and picked up a ridged silicone oven mit for 2euros - It really helps get my brushes washed nice and quickly. I don't own the sigma one so can't comment if it is as effective, but it sure looks very similar!

It's actually pretty darn cool! Do you "need" it to clean your brushes, no. BUT it does make it much easier. And anything that makes my life easier is good to me! I can clean twice as many brushes in the same time... and GIRLLLL.... I can dirty a large quantity of brushes and HAVE to wash them with my damn OCD! P.S. The prune-ish hands bothered me too. It's like using rubber gloves to wash dishes... it definitely helps!
PixieDancer, do you use the Sigma glove or an oven mitt? I really want to buy the Sigma one, I think it's a great idea!

Nice, Copperhead! I'm picking mine up later today. :) I already have DD from VV but when I saw it was being repromoted I knew I had to have it! Now I can use DD freely and be happy.

I finally got around to finally wearing Dark Deed (since I been wearing the heck out of Private Party). It is quite nice, I was hoping for a deeper color but I guess I'll have to use Vino lip liner underneath it to achieve my desired result.
