I think there's got to be a scientific way of doing them, like how you measure certain angles from you eye to your brow to determine your best eyebrow arch.....

I'm good with shadow wings, a la 1979, but liquid liner wings are just tricky.

Do you guys have a lot of eyeliners in your collections? I don't really... Like for instance.. One gold liner from one brand is similar enough to me not to buy a second gold liner from a second brand. I buy shadows that are similar to shades I already have but can't really justify doing the same with liners. So, I want all of them but at the same time... It just seems superfluous.

The first one swatched by Erin though--that purple one---WILL be mine.

I would buy more than one from different brands, but I wear liner more than eyeshadow, so it makes sense for me. I try to stay faithful, but if something catches my eye I want to compare at least.

My favorite liquid liner at the moment is from Lancome- I had no intention of replacing it though since it is exactly what I want- extremely jet black and dries with some shine to it.

I'm still excited for these liners since I love to use color. If the black from MAC is as good as the Lancome, I'll probably stick to MAC's since it is cheaper and I rarely get to the Lancome counter even though I love the brand. It's just more fun to shop at MAC or in Sephora.

If I could get'em to look good using a ruler, I'd have a darn yardstick in the bathroom!

I saw someone demonstrate on a YT video, and I follow her example generally. She lined her eyes normally, then put a dot where the wing would end, then drew a line from the dot to the 'eye line' that's already been drawn, connecting it.

If you visualize it, that should make a little triangle. Then she filled it it. I hope that made some sense!

ETA: That is a more dramatic way, more Amy Winehouse style (of course our lovely Amy really overdoes her cat-eye IMO). If you were doing just a simple little flick of the brush on the end, then it would be a bit different. I don't do the flick method since both eyes never seem to mirror each other!

Do you know the trick with the brush-handle/pen/etc?
Nose-outside corner of your eye-end of your eyebrows and there should be your perfect line.
Btw, I have the same problem with the flick disappearing as you have.

Which one was the liner that has the same applicator this new MAC one is based on, the one that was patented? Wasn't that Lancome?

Did MAC patent the applicator of these to be released?

This is the liner from Lancome that I adore so much. It's a firm, flexible brushlike tip. Lancome already discontinued it! Boooo

I will be comparing the two of them as soon as MAC releases their liners, so I can know if to buy a couple more Lancome ones.

I'm sorry this made me laugh lol, I have never heard that expression before!! Speaking of liquid liner, I use it like almost everyday lol. I'm getting the hang of the lil wing on the ends, I just follow my eye shape and do a tiny lil flick at the end.

Oh I remember those, they were just limited ed. which sucked but they were pretty bad ass. I had the sparkly one which I used to layer on top.

I read right here on spektra that when the patent expired for lancome, MAC swooped in and grabbed it and that's where these liners came from.

I can't find the post - it was a while back - but it makes sense. I think a product like this would do better for MAC than for a company like Lancome that's always fighting its reputation for being more mature and safe.

^Yeah now that you mention your right I forgot about that post lol. Liners are frickin awesome, but yeah Lancome is struggling right now. They have their free gifts to their advantage but some of my girls at work were saying how the company has been strugglin a bit. But I would imagine some of the price points they have would hurt them since MAC is more economical.

They're sort of stuck too, because the more elegant packaging with metal etc. is just getting so much more expensive but they've got their signature look to uphold so they can't just ditch it, while meanwhile MAC's packaging is really basic, so they can pass the cost savings along and keep things under that magical $20 tag.
