They're throwing every formula there is into this collection. Granted it's the colour collection and sets, but you've got cremesheen and mineralize gloss, regular and mineralize and ED shadows, pressed pigments and loose pigments, it's just a mishmash of formulas. There's no consistency, no cohesion. It makes no sense.
I noticed that too. Reaalllly bizarre. Maybe getting rid of flops?

Do you mean because people are more likely to be overwhelmed by all of the choice that they end up purchasing less than they would have? Or because the quality of the items might not be the best if they're trying to do too many different formulas for one launch?
As a MUA, you wanna recommend products to clients that work well with each. For example, let's say you have fix+, MES, #239, #266, #188, and a MSF. All of these items work well together. You can use the fix+ with the MES and MSF, the brushes with them as well, and get different effects if you use either the MES or MSF wet or dry. But if take replace the mineralize products with regular shadows and a blush, the fix+ is meaningless among these items. And if you have a #150 instead of a #188, you're stuck. Sure, a customer can just buy one or two of these items and make them work with stuff they already have, which is always great. But as a MUA, its hard to tie these items together and make them work for a client as a collection. As you know from just being on here, people love to buy collections as a group, and somethi g like this makes that difficult from an artist's standpoint. At least from my standpoint. I never sold stuff to clients just to sell stuff. If they didnt need it, i didnt sell it to them. But if it worked well with another item, and they'd get many different uses out of it, they definitely needed it. See what I'm saying?

I am only interested in trying a matt frost ls. Maybe I will get the ED duos if they are new colors.

I agree with this, fitting too many people's tastes in here is making me wanna buy one, maybe two items. a lot of the stuff isn't my taste.
can someone please explain to me how to use split fiber brushes? what are they best for?

My train of thought went out the window after reading new lipsticks and blushes, too excited to make a list yet. Sets are always a big skip for me though

Yes, but the things that aren't your taste will cater to other people. The things you like here, other people might not like. This way, everyone can find something at least. There are some collections where I want everything because I feel like everything was catered towards me, and some collections where I want nothing because I feel like it all caters to someone else. This falls in the middle, which I personally find appropriate for a holiday collection. It seems like the most appropriate time to cater to as many different people as possible. I would hate to see them push just a single formula or whatever and leave a lot of people unable to partake in the holiday collection. That's just my opinion, though!

I think you are right as well. It mostly depends on what kind of audience you're trying to aim towards, I suppose it's more of a personal preference thing. Maybe picking some kind of finishes that many different people gravitate towards.

I think I am going to like this collection, but I haven't had a chance to really look through everything yet. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint!

I'm never one for MAC's sets, and the packaging looks kinda funky, but the matte frost and tribalist lipstick are calling my name. I'd love to have this be a smaller purchase after the ANR and upcoming RHPS damage.

Yup the matte frosts and maybe the fluid lines based on swatches and the ivory brush set are the only ones I am interested in too! :)

I love the look of those cream colored brushes. I'll wait for more pictures before I make a list, but there are quite a few things I'm interested in.

I usually skip the Holiday collections. The only things that may change that decision is the glitter/pigment sets and the EDES duos.
