MAC - Metal Urge Collection Discussion

They MUST have reformulated them, I don't really like them as much this time around but I think most others would. I think they would crease less but in doing that they sort of lost a lot of that metallic finish to them somehow. They look more subdued than my previous versions in a way and less slick? I don't know I'm having a hard time explaining that, maybe it's all in my head. Still way pretty but I'll be selling most of mine I think. I do love Verdigris though.

I believe the rumor around here was the LLL underneath, b/c paints are too creamy for these to stick. I'd almost imagine they'd be better w/ no base than a paint right?

So your saying as base the rumor is to use Liquidlast liners? I'm so not good are the abreviation thing.

I mean i would think paints are good because they go on as a cream base but they dry down. I stopped by the Macy's counter and I am considering of getting a few but will not if i dont have a base that will work for them.

Paints work. That's what I use. I don't think Paint Pots would.

Yes I believe that's what they meant, lol. It seems weird but also makes sense b/c Liquidlast Liners dry down and create a firm surface. I think paints like Bare Canvas would work ok since they aren't super creamy when dry, and maybe even UD Primer Potion, but paint pots don't seem promising...

Ok so now that we established trying some LLL. Which one do you think would be good to use. I mean I'm sure if i use a blue LLL for a blue metal x eyeshadow then that makes sense but which LLL do you think is universal.Maybe Classic cream or Dress Khaki...

reflects purple Duo is just hard to walk away from....

Ok ladies. I just got back. I got the Spiritualize p/g. OMG

I am gonna wear this color out. It's unlike any of my greens. It has soft gold shimmer to it. Just the perfect amount of shimmer. I swatched all the MX. I decided on Verdigris, Gold Spice and Gilded Ash. I had my heart set on the Pink Platinum but it looked like a Phloof on my skin. So I passed. Forged Rose was very pretty. I think I will actually go back and get it. I didn't care for Material Gold at all. It looked ashy on my skin. Metablu was very blue and pretty. Not sure I would get much wear out of it but I may reconsider on a second swatching trip. I will try to swatch them and take pics when I get home and figure out how to upload them. Shouldn't be hard. I've done it before

I'm paler than pale and it wasn't all that pink on me either. I was disappointed in that one for sure. It was a pretty color but EXTREMELY pale. Spiritualize is gorgeous though, I agree. It reminded me of something but I swatched it next to my other green pigments and it's not the same. It's texture is glorious and will go perfectly with Verdigris.

while many are SAYING its not reformulated, I wonder why they feel so different? I was the first to try and swatch Gilded Ash when I got there today. Last time and with any of the Metal X's I bought last year, I had to like break the seal, it was so dry. These? DREAMY, CREAMY! I bought Gilded Ash in a second!

I wanted Platinum Pink but it was so light. Not a pink I'll get. But IMO the next I'd get if any, would be Forged Rose.

I'm NW15 for reference.

Spiritualize pigment was pretty but I really don't like greens. I thought it was too light, I would have preferred a more goldy-green. People who like greens, in particular light greens, will like this!

I put some swatches up...

I love glided ash but am afraid of the creasing, so I don't know... does anyone know of an eyeshadow similar in color to do?

Pink platinum took many dabs (like ~5 times) to get the pink shown and it was so pretty how it was duochrome even though you can't see it in the actual pot.

Spirtualize is so pretty but I don't know how to wear, so I was wondering if anyone could do EOTD/FOTDs please!

Ok ladies! I had my heart set on Pink Platinum, but when i swatched it, the blasted thing turned GREEN on me! The manager of the counter was shocked to say the least. We tried a pp, but nothing. So I passed on it and only got Forged Rose (beautiful) and Reflects Pink and Reflects Bronze (I can't wait to make my own Dazzleglass with these!). This was my 'cheapest' haul I have ever done. I also bought Spring Bean lipglass. But MORE money to spend next week on Monogram

Alright friends, I just got home from MAC and why is it that I can never just stick to my budge? argh! lol. Anyways I ended up with:

-Forged Rose
-Gold Spice
-Metal Blue
-Pink Platinum
-Reflects Purple Glitter

Overall I loved all the Metal-x colors: Gilded Ash surprised me in that it looks a *bit* like Smoke & Diamonds when on the skin. Material Gold is nice too for a nude eye! I liked both of those a lot.

The formula definitely feels better than last year- I asked the MA about a base and she said you don't really need a base, and can apply them with your fingers. She didn't think the Liquidlast Liners as a base would be a very good idea, if anything, she said try Bare Canvas paint.

Anyways I love this collection! I'm going to be putting some swatches up in a minute or two!

that is exactly what I was thinking as I swatched all them together. Those two would look great together. At least on my hand it did.

See I love how the pink shows up on your swatches. It's very pretty on you, but on me, hmmm not good at all
