MAC Pret a Papier Discussion

I will also add (as I whizzed over to Temptalia to see her swatches) that on fair skin with pink orange undertones Phloof! IS NOT a dupe for Tissueweight. Phloof! has more blue in it whereas Tissueweight has more red in it. Just my .02.

My list is expanding... I think I'm adding Made to Order to my list of Dressmaker^2 and Instant Chic. I really wanted Surprise Me during Holiday and just never picked it up, so after someone said MTO is similar to SM... yeah, have to have it.

I've decided that instead of ordering, I'm going to my freestanding after work tomorrow to swatch before buying. I was just going to take the plunge, but I'm scared of coral/peach lips again. :/ They'll probably be more wearable on me now that I'm a brunette (almost black) instead of a blonde, but, hey. With To the Beach coming up, I can't afford to buy things I'm not totally in love with right now!

I'm just wondering how it would look if I put Make Up For Ever's cream blush in #12 underneath Instant Chic. I think that might be gorgeous. They are both pretty, face brightening corals.

I got a chance to check out the collection today and am in love with the chromographic pencils! They are so easy to use on the eyes to brighten them up on the waterline. I might go back and get the NC30 one.

I'll ask someone at Mac tomorrow which pencil they think is best for my coloring. I swear, if he/she tries to sell me both, I will kill them.

this collection is so much prettier in person. i love instant chic and gazette grey. memorabilia is a nice everyday purple too. i didnt really see a pigmentation problem with the eyeshadows, but i'm pale.

Then I got home to find that I was charged for the pre-order that they couldn't find.

In my insomnia I had a thought: Those of you who don't like Instant Chic b/c it was too ashy or too sheer may like a Chanel blush called In Love. It came out some time ago and was supposed to be limited edition, but I saw it on the Chanel site not too long ago. It may also be on some department store sites. It's a peachy/coral blush and it's gorgeous. It's better than Instant Chic for me. It's not quite as sheer, it's buildable, more finely milled and a tiny bit of shimmer without being a glitter bomb. It would fit with anything from this collection.

Hey is prettier than Tissueweight. More gold toned. Naked Lunch is aso better than Tissueweight. it just sits there in my opinion. No umph to it.

I saw these blushes yesterday. They are all pretty. I think this would be a good match

So true. And it looks nothing like coppering either. coppering is on the red side.

Instant Chic is pretty and shows up fine, but it looks so much like Ripe Peach (which I have 2 of) on my skin that I regret getting it. Oh well.

I broke and bought both paint pots. I'm so glad I did. I was worried they'd be too dark for me, but they look lovely!

Thanks for this comparison! You saved me a bit of money. I have Ripe Peach and like it, but I don't reach for peachy blushes all that often. So I'll stick to Gazette Grey and either Tissue Weight or Hey. Both b2m, so no money spent!

I was debating between Tissueweight and Hey myself, I think it's going to be Hey. I love gold-toned highlighters!

I may be a light medium in skin tone. I really think its the Olive in our skin that doesn't agree with IC or its like colors. Garb was sooo gorgeous on.

I'm exactly in the same boat as you, only the opposite undertone (neutral to slightly cool/NW25). So IC was nice on me but not exciting, Garb was orange. There should be more products for light to medium light girls like us. Not everyone is either fair, medium or dark. But then again we luckily can wear most shades

I overheard one of the MA's at the counter telling a girl who was about NC40 that IC prob won't show up on her. I'm guessing you're darker than that yet you made it work for you, you prob do have some special brown girl magic

So what's the verdict on Made to Order and Fold & Tuck? I saw them at MAC last night and want to back this weekend to pick them up but now i'm reading some posts that are saying MTO is a dupe of Surprise Me and F&T is a dupe for Lychee Luxe which i have both of. Help! I think i need to post a request for comparison swatches in the swatch forum.

I just saw a swatch of Garb by bumblebees24 in the swatch forum and it looks soooo pretty & i detect some shimmer in it but it may be the lighting or skintone. I didn't even bother to swatch it at MAC last night because it looked so matte and meh but i will try it out when i go back.
