I love Garb! I bought it today and Not Instant Chic, which I thought for sure would come home with me. All that talk about Instant Chic and it just didn't swatch nicely on me. I wonder if I'm missing something.

I also got Archetype (I don't have any gold l/s) and Coral Crepe p/p (pretty!). I'll keep thinking about Fold and Tuck l/g and one of the coral l/s...I'm trying to keep my spending in control!

Anyway, this collection is just too subtle my taste. I do like subtle sometimes, but not this one I guess. The lippies were all too sheer for me except for the brown one and I know by trying 10xxx times before that brown l/s does not look good on me. Garb blush was pretty orange on me and Instant Chic was cute but not overly exciting. I did like the coral paint pot but honestly I hardly ever wear corals or oranges on my eyes so I passed that too.

The nude pencils are an interesting concept and I would get one if I didn't already have Stila Topaz k/l. Topaz lasts on my waterline 7-8 hours so I'm set.

So I left the counter with Boldly Bare l/l from Too Fabulous. I loved the other three lip liners I got from that collex (Trimmed in Pink, In Synch and Naked) and I wanted to add a coral one to the mix.

i passed on the nude eyeliner pencils to as i just got the Stila one in topaz and love it.

I tried to get excited about this collection, but it's not happening for me. I will probably return and swatch Fold and Tuck a few more times, but that's still a maybe at this point. Sigh... is To the Beach here yet?

You know, Im not dark but I am not fair either. Nor am I completely medium. lol
I may be a light medium in skin tone. I really think its the Olive in our skin that doesn't agree with IC or its like colors. Garb was sooo gorgeous on.

My haul:

Instant Chic- looks pretty on my NC25, but could see this as too light for darker skin. IC reminds me of a more subtle Ripe Peach
Gazette Grey- stunning in the pan, grey with gold sparkles. This swatched terrible with my finger, but I bought it anyway, tried it at home, and I LOVE it. This definitely needs a base, but blends really nicely and it is pigmented on the lids.
Tissueweight - almost reminds me of Sunday Best, but not as pink. This will be a lovely as an all over wash, or highlighter, fabulous texture and versatile color. This looks nothing like Hey from Prep for Color.
Memorabelia- This is a muted-greyed plum. Definitely not a must have, but I think this will be a good neutral purple color for everyday wear.

Well, I'm not a fair girl and I can say Instant Chic was made for me. Don't be fooled by the texture on your hand, because on your face, it works. That or maybe I have that special brown girl magic.

I posted swatches in the swatch section of most everything in the collection. I ended up hauling Instant chic, i don't know why everyone said this was too sheer, I think it's perfectly pigmented as a sheertone should be. All the MUA's were wearing it today and it looked gorgeous on all of them! I also got the chromographic pencil, tissueweight e/s (a pinker version of naked lunch), and Gazette grey e/s. GG e/s twinkled in the sunlight. I haven't tried it on my eyes yet but I hope it doesn't turn to poo mud like everyone says it does. It was just too pretty to leave behind.

Exactly. When I tried to wear it I said "sheer"? I have to tap off my brush before I put it on my face and that's just tapping the product with my brush.

Went to the store to check out the collection today, and came out with Dressmaker, Dressmaker and Instant Chic. Instant Chic was not too sheer for me at all. It actually showed up really well on my NC20/25 skin and gives me a nice glow.

I'm still on the fence about Dressmaker, Dressmaker. It seemed really nice when I tried it on in the store, but it seems a bit sheer for me. I feel like I'd have to put gobs of it on before I can get it to show up the way I'd like it to.

I went to my local MAC counter today, and the MUA tried both Garb and Instant Chic blushes on me. I immediately fell in love with Instant Chic, and found Garb to be so-so. He then put Instant Chic on the cheek that had Garb on it, and vice versa, to even it out and... BAM the look just came together. I daresay that the combination looks quite similar to Ripe Peach (swirled) which sadly, I missed out on. Naturally, both blushes came home with me. I also bought Fold and Tuck l/g and the Coral Crepe p/p.

Am I crazy for wanting to return the paint pot? I wasn't even sure I wanted it, but purchased it anyway, because I knew it'd be a hot item. It swatches beautifully, but I used it for an eye look tonight, and it just doesn't work with my brown eyes, and complexion. I wear green contacts sometimes, and it might look better with those, but I don't think I'd reach for it nearly enough. I'd feel bad returning it, because I've tried it, so I feel like it'll be a waste if they toss it. Will MAC even let me return it?

That being said, should I decided to return it, I definitely want a back-up of Instant Chic and Garb. I'm such an addict!

Thank you so very much for your comparison swatch and explanation of Tissue Weight vs. Naked Lunch!

Well kudos to you then, you probably do have that that magic. But as I stated earlier in my previous post, I also tried it on my cheek and it was only slightly ashy. It was a lot more ashier on my hand swatch even though it was pigmented.

Funny you should mention that because when I first saw the product images Temptalia took for her site, I thought that the two of them together looked like a great match for Ripe Peach! Of course it would depend on skintone as well. This should tempt people, uh oh

I imagine it would look great with your green eyes

I have brown eyes as well and I don't wear coral on my eyes. But if you find that you never wear this sort of colour with either of your eye colours, especially not green, then it may be safe to pass. Sometimes we can make colours work though, have you tried it with a greyish-green colour?

They should take it back after it's used, I've done it once through the mail. They greatly understand that all colours don't work for everyone!

Was all ready to walk out with Coral Crepe and a new tube of mascara...did that happen? nope! haha.

From the swatches on here, I thought that Coral Crepe was going to be too burnt orange on me. However, just the lightest application makes it look fabulous pour moi. So the very nice MUA said to try Bare Study as highlighter for it, shazam! Quite pretty! I said, hmmm why not go for the shadows (Im a sucker for shadows). As a highlighter Tissueweight and in the crease Cut to Fit. POW!

No blushes (waaaay too many thus far this year) and no l/g's or l/s's for the same reason. Not that they were not nice, but my budget was for the paint pot. And perhaps, I can B2M after the fact for one of the shadows.

Glad to hear you found a way to make it work! That's awesome

I'm scared to get my precious 217 into a creamy product. Foundation & concealer brushes are a PITA to wash

Yeah, there's no point in trying to pack on CC. The 217 makes it look awesome.

Hmmmm, I think you've convinced me to give the paint pot another try! I desperately want to make it work, because it really is a gorgeous colour, and I love the texture.

I guess I'll just have to pay out of pocket for the blush backups. It's worth it though.

I went to pick up my pre-order today only to find that there was no pre-order there for me to pick up. Luckily the store still had everything so I ended up with NC15 chromagraphic pencil, gazette grey e/s (B2M), tissue weight e/s (B2M), cut to fit e/s (B2M), and instant chic blush. Then I got home to find that I was charged for the pre-order that they couldn't find.

I always have the WORST luck with pre-orders.

Besides the pre-order drama I really like everything. I am not sure why I got cut to fit eye shadow. The MA did a really cool look with tissue weight, cut to fit, and sorcery eye shadows so I think that sucked me in.
lol.gif

I ended up skipping dressmaker, dressmaker as I didn't feel it was a shade I would wear a lot.

I am excited to wear instant chic tomorrow. It is so gorgeous and I think that I like it more than ripe peach.
