MAC - Prolongwear Discussion

Silly thought, but if you're getting too much concealer from the pump, can you just twist off the top and dip a brush in instead? I wouldn't know. I haven't see them yet.

I tried

Maybe the top on the concealer bottle comes off, but I couldn't get it off. But you can't get the top off of the foundation because of how its designed. I really wanted to put the excess back in the bottle

I got a definite "NO" at the Toronto store. I didn't try the department stores but they are usually stricter.

I must say that I am quite impressed & liking very much how soft & natural it looks on! The application was just fine for me - I did not have any of the 'it dries too quick' issues. It went on beautifully. Lovely almost like a cream to powder finish. I used a cream blush over it to see how it applied over the foundation & it was great.

I love how the concealer looks on - natural & pretty. It did layer nicely for more buildable coverage. If you have really dark circles, you may have to layer. But this is so lovely for everyday. I am a huge Stickler for it having to look 'natural'

For the foundation, I used my finger to apply one side of my face (yes I am a finger applier) & the other side, I used the 130. Both looked just fine & natural, the brush perhaps buffed it into the skin a little more. I loved how it looked around the nose & mouth area - very very natural. Another must for me. The NC appeared like it would be too yellow tinted for me, but it actually helped even out any redness & looks like a good skin match. I will also get a sample of the NW20 - just to be sure. Will see how it wears through the rest of the day
winks.gif

If this does not break my skin out - it will be a sure keeper.
Yep - the pumps SUCK!

I'm NW20 and bought the NW20 concealer - seems to be the perfect shade.

The posters who told us to take the excess that comes out of the pump and save it in a small pot gave some good advice. That's what I've been doing and not only am I'm not wasting - I'm also using much, much less because we only need a thin layer. I use an old Nars concealer brush and then pat with my fingers to blend. I have to admit - I really like this concealer now!! It's very natural looking.

One side of my face is NC50 and the other is NW45 right now and the only difference is that NC50 is clean and slightly dewy/glowy, where as NW45 is running a tad red/orange. Other MAC formulas, by now, my foundation would be a red/orange mess.

The foundation is staying on VERY well. I am like the most oily girl out there I feel at times. But not with this. I don't even have to use blot powder right now.

I really like this formula. Comparing to MUFE Mat Velvet, because was currently my HG for its staying power, its more fluid than Mat Velvet but still 100% non transferable. Mat Velvet transfers a bit on me at times. With Prolongwear, nothing is coming off on to my hands when I touch my face, but I can still feel the foundation. I still like the color choice of Mat Velvet though. Its going to be good to have both in the long run.

A little goes a long way. The pump is the MAC fix + pump and I think too much comes out at once for me. There is no press it 1/2 way to get only a little bit. I really didn't want to keep pumping the tester, wasting product to gauge how much is going to come out in the store. I'll play with my own later when I haul.

The concealer. I am on the fence with the colors. Like which one to get, cause NC50 is similar to NW45. The MUA told me NW45 as a concealer is better undereye to help with dark circles. So i have to decide. I love the cute little bottle, but I thought the consistency was pretty thin. Later on, I did notice it dries quick and becomes a little thicker. Again, a little goes along way, so watch the pump action. Like one pump may be way more than you need for under eye coverage on both eyes. Like may concealers, finger application on yourself is a good bet with this one.

I like the price point... in the same realm as the other MAC concealers.

Wow, we are twins for real. I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. MA's want to give me NW45 foundation but I will be a red/orangey mess by the end of the day. I usually wear NC50/55. Actually, I mix NC50 and NC55 in Studio Sculpt since the NC50 is slightly too light and the NC55 is slightly too dark.

I went by MAC today to try this out. I was matched to NW45 concealer and NC50 foundation. I'm very impressed so far. It's holding it's own against my MUFE Mat Velvet.

I am NC20 right now.. and I got samples of the NC15 and NC20 -- I started off using the NC20 straight, and now mix with the NC15 to get a better colour since I am kind of fading.. ha. The concealer is and will remain the NC15 and it works perfectly for me. I already ordered these three

this foundation is a close cousing of the EL Stay Wear light imo.. holds up very well.

So I wore this for 10 hrs today... I used a regular moisturizer, not the one that controls oil like I usually have to, I didnt use any primer neither. I wanted to test it by itself. I used just a little bit of it, thin layer. I didn't set it with any powder or anything. With other foundations, my t-zone would get oily by noon even when I set it with a powder. (With all of the ones I tried... ALL!! It would just depend on which one I use if I would get more oily or little bit less). So I went to the bathroom to check up on my face around noon, it looked the same as when I just put it on. Around 6pm I noticed a tiny bit of oiliness (and I mean a little bit) on my nose and middle of my forehead, I blotted with a tissue and just saw little bit of oil on it, no foundation transfer. I blotted with MAC blotting powder and it still looks like it did this morning. Not even MUFE Mat velvet + would last this long or look this good or keep me shine free all day. So I'm very impressed and amazed. I finally found something that's going to stop me from looking like I smeared oil on my t-zone. Now I'm praying that it doesn't break me out like SFF does.

Feels lighter than MAC SFF, Revlon Color stay, EL Double wear. Looks better on the skin as well.

-- these are incrediblely light textured and also have a long wearability.. but not the 12 acclaimed hours (who would want it to last that long anyway?).. but, I digress -- these prolongwear compared to the NARS are 1/2 the price and of an equal texture and they do not last 12 hours either... but what I find interesting is that compared to mattenes these deliver equally good colour as well as soft texture and wearability.. hth

Lol, I know Chatterbox, Snob and them aren't mattenes sweetie
winkiss.gif
, I was just expressing my hate for Chatterbox which is similar to one of the lipsticks in this collection. Snob was one of my first MAC lipsticks and I believe i bought it 2 years before the Mattenes were even introduced.

Thanks for the thoughts on Nars vs MAC long wearing lipsticks. I will pick up one of the new MAC ones but I also love the colour of Bagkok, so I will get that too

Elegant one, what other concealers do you love? and why is this one better?
I have so many that I'm using, I'm trying to justify getting this one too

I use BE in Bisque first, then I alternate between MUFE, Smashbox or Almay over it.
I like the MAC one because the longwear finish & how natural it looks. However, the only downfall to any longwear/waterproof etc. product - it does make the skin dry.

And, the MAC one is only $16.50 - that is really reasonable

its the longwearing-ness of it. it messes with the colour.

oh but you can my dear. turn the lid like you're turning it "on", and keep turning. at first its a little tight, but then it gives and twists off. now, putting the lid back on is a bit trickier. you have to line the hose back up with the hole in the lid, twist the lid on until it won't give anymore, and then gently turn it back "on" ever-so slightly.

Oh yeah, I have that one too...yep, although I did like the color. I'm just never 100% happy with any concealer - I'm not sure any woman is though

I'm really liking these new l/s.

I wore Goes and Goes today and loved it!

This is a very wearable purple.

I lined my lips with plum liner (but didn't fill in) and put some Gaga gloss on top.

Lovely!!!

The formula is nice too.

I'm glad they are permanent!

Sure is. I am going to try the NW45 concealer when I go back. I may even haul NC50 and NW45 because together they are so much cheaper than MUFE full coverage, my usual. I am a just a real stickler for concealer, cause on days when I don't feel like applying a full face, I rock concealer under MSFN or select sheer. Then again, this foundation is light enough for those "I don't feel like wearing foundation days"

Yes. It is very natural looking. My skin felt really good and I kept looking at myself in my rear view mirror, like wow, this is some good stuff right here!

I am going to try my sample out at home tomorrow morning with different brushes. First, one side of my face with the 130, and then the other my super quick 189. I see MAC is pushing the 190 with this, so I'll try that too. Will report back.

I got Overtime lipcreme...it is really nice but does not last 12hours! I ate and drank and it was pretty much gone. But the color is perfect for my NW10 skin I am so pink/fair that many of the shade range did not look nice swatched on my skin... but Overtime is nice. I really like the way these feel going on.
