I just got my Stylistics 129 brush in the mail not even 30 mins ago and it is smaller than my regular 129. It's light weight and to me a cheaper version of the regular brush. The bristles are longer, not as full and they are not tapered the way my regular 129 is. Now, my 129 is the older version, about 8 years old, and I don't really know if the newer ones are different. All-in-all, I feel like I wasted my money and I may just send it back.

Re: Stylistics Discussion

I just had a great chat with a Mac artist online is I asked her about Soft pout lipstick and conversational lipglass and this is what she said

Sara: Soft Pout is "peachier" than Viva Glam V, and pinker than Delish. I hope that gives you an idea of the intensity. Conversational Lipglass is alot like the limited edition shade Be Seen. Also, it's similar to Luminary Lustreglass.

I already have bee seen lipglass from the 07 holiday cool lipglasses collection. So i passed on that and I ordered soft pout because I have Delish which was also recommended by a mac mua and looks awesome on my skintone. So I thats a plus. The Live Chat artist( I think they're mua) also gave me a free shipping code so that was cool because I was only spending like 40 bucks and you need to spend 60 in order to get free shipping. Any who I cant wait to see some swatches!! Hope I helped.

Re: Stylistics Discussion

I was thinking that Pave or Warm Ice in the Sheersparks would make pretty eye shadows and they would so pretty in my cosmetic bag. But, I know that would be such a waste of money. Those are the only two swatches I've seen. I can't go check out the collection this weekend as planned because I have to leave early in the morning to go out of town and there's no MAC there. My daughter is a freshman in college and is sick and she wants me to come see her. It's a seven hour drive but they still want mommy when they don't feel well. She had to go to the ER the other night for an allergic reaction to some medication. She's feeling some better but she asked if I'd come for the weekend, so that's what moms do.

Re: Stylistics Discussion

I checked out the collection today. I picked up a mystery powder and Stylistic l/s. Not sure if I'm going to keep the lippie because it's crazy bold but who knows it may grow on me. I didn't care too much for the brushes or the shadow/highlighters but I did get a good whiff of the perfume. It smells D-I-V-I-N-E!!! I'm definitely buying it. I'm just hoping I can get my hands on it when it's finally shipped into stores.

Re: Stylistics Discussion

I checked out the collection yesterday thinking I would ask about the mystery powder and just get the 224. Ladies, the 224 is GORGEOUS! The sales girl at MAC was so proud of me. I had her put the mystery powder on me and I really like it better than the studio fix. It is lighter coverage, but iit's enough coverage and doesn't cause me to break out. I used the 224 to apply and turns out a little goes a long way. The mystery powder is a really good deal too because you get a refill, so it's two powders for the price of one with durable packaging - and the packaging is so beautiful.

I Live in Virginia Beach and have no store close that has this collection the closest if 4 hours away! Grrr! I am thinking I just want the 224 brush, but I am waiting to see pictures of the actual brush...

If anyone has bought it could you please post a picture of it...

I was thinking of getting the sheerspark powder but I have not heard good things about them and I just got some loose beauty powders. The mystery powder sounds fabulous but I dont have the money to shell out for yet another powder, Is it really a must have for any of you that have it?
thanks in advance Ladies!

Re: Stylistics Discussion

K, as promised here goes. My "review" product by product.
On the packaging: I absolutely love the pearls. They are not tacky at all, but sophisticated, classy, and dare I say it- gorgeous!!

The brushes:
K, I will be the first to tell you that each and every one of these brushes are gorgeous! Upon first seeing them i wanted them all. They are soft, and they are pretty with a decent weight to them. My one concern and the one thing stopping them from buying these was the fact that they are metal and i am very concerned about them rusting or tarnishing. My logic is, I will use them and I will wash them and I am worried that water will get in the "seams" and completely destroy a brush that I paid a lot of money for. That said, the brushes were a no buy for me
ssad.gif
(thanks cindy for pointing the tarnish factor out to me!)

On the mystery powders, i think mac did well with the shade range. Model chic was absolutely perfect on my nw20 self. I found the effects of this to be similar to when i used my msf natural in medium, though the mystery powder is silkier and more finely milled. You get sort of a light opalescant glow, and the texture is sooooo silky and smooth that it feels luxurious on!

On the sheerspark powders:
These were pretty, but not essential in my opinion. The color payoff is close to none, and on my pale self the colors would definitely not stand out. Basically, they are like little chunky glitter pressed powders. No color and lots of large flecks of glitter. Fashionette was def the best of all of them, but not a must have for me.

Lipsticks: Texture on these are great. Silky smooth and oh so comfortable to wear.
Soft Pout: Barely shows up as a light peachy pink on me. Too sheer and too similar to other peach frosty lipsticks i have for me to warrant buying it, though it does look great when paired with conversational
Stylistic: Looked like a gorgeous bright red on the tube, but on me the red looked way too orange. Did not like this one at all
The Scene: This one looks dark dark purple in the tube, which was very off-putting. But on me it was a lovely berry.
In Vogue: Nothing spectacular imo, I was a big fan of the light browns before, but not so much anymore. I grew out of them I guess.

Lipglasses:So much smoother than regular lipglasses. These were not tacky at all. These give a shine akin to the shine of a balloon. No glitter either.
Witty: Looks good with stylistic on top. Again though, this look was all in all too orange on me
Tastemaker: Looks great when paired with the scene. Gorgeous berry lipglass with a good amount of color even when worn alone.
Conversational: A very pretty milky peach color on me. I feel like this would be absolutely perfect for a nude lip!
Hyper Chic- Like in vogue, just another boring tan color imo. Would be gorgeous if you are a lover of tans and browns (i just grew out of that phase long ago)

Hope that was helpful!

Re: Stylistics Discussion

^ I agree with you on the Sheer Mystery powder. I picked-up Dark Secret and I love it. Im NW 43-45 and it sets my tinted moisturizer sans chalky or ashiness.
I also loved Fashionette, Its a great "pink berry" tone on my skin and I don't think any other MAC blushes some close to it.

Hyper-Chic , I'm going to need a dupe of. Its the best nude/pink for my lips.
Loves it all!

Re: Stylistics Discussion

Do you guys really think that the Stylistics brushes will easily tarnish or rust?? I so want to buy the 129 brush. But if I buy one and then a year later it starts to tarnish or change color, I would rather just get the plain regular 129 brush.

I really doubt that thease brush would rust or tarnish...
If you look at all of your brushes closely, the tip before the hair part is always made in some metal and does it tarnish or rust?
The metals that rust are the ones that contains copper, nickel and iron, so the red ones, so it won't rust.
As for tarnishing, the first metals that tarnish are silver and steel and our brushes aren't made in steel for sure. LOL.
That would be great though if someone could ask what the metal is made of. It should be indicated somewhere.
Nickel isn't commonly used in cosmetics because of allergies.
Allergies are another issue about these brushes...
I really doubt that MAC would spent so much money in brushes that can tarnish or rush...
That would be a joke!

Re: Stylistics Discussion

Oh, I tried the rest of the collection yesterday.
This is what I thought:
The sheerspark powders and never saw such a terrible product made by MAC.
weeping.gif

All the product that I tried to apply stayed stuck on my finger and nothing appeared on my pale NW15 skin. On of them only seem to have more pay off but all the product was coming off of the pan when I swiped it! And I had I huge chunk of the product impossible to blend on my skin.
What a waist of money for such a pretty packaging!
I really had hope for this product since I like glitters and like the packaging.
Nope, not a success.
Even the manager of the store agreed with me and told me that MAC made a bullet here.
tong.gif

The mistery Powders are indeed a very good buy and worth the price as it has been said as they have a refill.
Go get one before they sell one out!
They have a much better coverage that last year's Mystery Powders.
Only 3 shades seem perfect as what I have seen.
I am a NW15 and Model Chic is great for me, not too yellow or too pink.
Very similar to my dear Studio Fix powder but in a lighter version.
yes.gif

I wish that they made such shade permanent...

The l/s textures are creamy and fabulous, like last year with Couture.
Very different shades.
Stylistic and Soft Pout are the prettiest to my opinion and a must.

The lipglosses are nice but I wish that they had more sparkles and more pigments.
Sheer but good complement to the lipsticks.
Not really necessary if you want to save the money here.

Re: Stylistics Discussion

I bought the Soft Pout lipstick ( and a back-up) as well as In Vogue ls and Hyper Chic lg. I am nc25(lighter side) and I love Soft Pout. I wear it over Warm Smile Tendertone and it looks great for a nude/peachy natural lip look. Not too flat or frosty. The texture is fabulous and doesn't feel drying like the regular ls. HTH!

Thanks. So to go through the brass sould take a little while.

The nickel undernearth can't oxydize until the brass wears out.
