MAC - Surf Baby Discussion

I so need Christine to post her review of these products, she's normally really good at swatching comparisons and offering perm alternatives though I have a feeling with it coming to the UK first I may have to buy 'blind'.....though to be honest I'm not sure I would wear Sun Blonde and Surf USA - I'm shy with brights!
I was hoping Christine and Karen would have got the collection to review by now aswell as I'm still unsure about a few products! I can't wait for this collection - I don't think I've ever planned to spent this much on a single MAC collection ever! *sigh*

I have a new list! But I still expected more from this summer collection

Hibiscus l/s
Bust Out l/s
Strage Potion l/g
My Paradise
Pigment stack (I need to see them to decide which one)
and maybe Saffron and Surf USA e/s

I've seen swatches of My Paradise compared to other blushes. I have Springsheen and it seemed to me almost the same without the shimmer, but I wonder how it is compared to Style and Peaches. I always end with a lot of peachy coral blushes...

Hmm so far its

Hibiscus l/s
Naturally Eccentric l/s
My Paradise blush
Girl on Board l/g
Good Lovin' l/g
Strange Potion l/g
Summer Stash pigments
Ocean Dip n/p
Gilded White e/l

and maybe the makeup bag. If the collection had been reviewed I probably could have knocked a couple of items of my list. I also want to try the pressed powders but I'll have to swatch. lol this is the most I've ever spent on a MAC collection! lol I'm always on a budget but I'm just loving this collection!

If I have any money left after Surf Baby I am so getting Springsheen!

I know! I swatched it last week while I was at a MAC counter - its like the perfect summer blush colour - finally something to replace Mighty Aphrodite and NARS Gilda for a while!

Hibiscus, Strange Potion, and both pigment stacks are on my list. Not sure about the eyeshadows yet. I rely on Christine very heavily for reviews. I love her grading system. It might seem silly to some, but anything below a B+ I skip entirely. It keeps me from making myself go broke, AND I want nothing but the best quality. XD

@Fianna- Thanks so much for the comparison swatches of Short Shorts and Swell Baby. It's so funny, because I always find Nylon, the permanent shade, too frosty for me, but I love almost all the variations that Mac comes out with that are similar. I think I am going to pick up Short Shorts, just because a girl can never have too many neutral highlight shadows. Swell Baby I'm unsure of. I Have and love Copperplate, but I don't know that I need a shade that's so close. It does look very nice, though. I have the feeling that the shadows aren't going to sell out as quickly, so I think I might have more time to make up my mind about this one.

Bust Out was always a likely purchase for me and that photo certainly whets my appetite. It looks more purple, less pink/ magenta than Spitfire, Style Curve, Quite the Thing, etc. It also looks darker than Play Time. Probably the last thing I need is another purple lipstick, but these things aren't really about "need"...

As I've said before: Surf USA is very unique. I've got lots of teals, aquamarines and turquoises and there's no other eyeshadow that looks similar so far.

Here are some bad swatches but it's almost night in Germany so no chance for better lightening.
I know exactly what you mean as I rely heavily on Christine to give honest reviews, she seems to tell it how it is and is the first to say if something isn't up to scratch quality wise!

Yeah there are a couple of swatch comparrisons of surf usa in the swatch thread and a few look quite similar :) and you shouldn't be shy with brights! you should start off by wearing them around the house and work your way up to wearing them outside. maybe you could use them on your lower lash line for the classic 'colour pop'? that way it's not too much on your lids at first :)

springsheen is a lovely blush! well worth having!
Thanks so much Lou! This is such helpful advice for me and I shall definitely be experimenting more, I seen your look with Lucky Green and a couple of others so lucky green has made the hit list too lol! I'm going to have to have a look at the Surf USA swatches and decide ? Btw, I too love Springsheen and I am in fact wearing it today!

@Katred: Oh, I forgot to compare Copperplate to Swell Baby. I can swatch them both for you tomorrow if you like but I can tell you already that they look like different colors in their pans.
