MAC - Surf Baby Discussion

After all this online drama crap, I decided to skip this collection altogether. I checked online about 9 AM this morning and of course a few things were sold out - but I was still going to get a couple of other items...Anyway I sat on it too long and when I came back tonight to place an order, almost everything I was thinking about getting was sold out/not available whatever. The few items that were left that I wanted, I decided wasn't worth it. I really wanted Sun Blonde especially, but ya know, I'll live without it.
Instead of even making an effort to hunt the crap down from Nordies or Macy's or wherever, I'm just skipping it. And I actually feel a sense of relief. Makeup should be FUN and playful and bring out a creative energy - not make people stressed out, makeup ravishing beasts. LOL!

There are plenty of other places I am happy to spend my makeup money - I really want several of the new MUFE Aqua liners, and the new Dior quints, and oh yeah Chanel too has some GORGEOUS fall things releasing in July.
I'm really surprised though MAC made such limited quantities for a summer collection. Usually those are big sellers with items around for quite some time.
Can't wait to see everyone's looks and read more reviews. I don't mean to be a sour puss, but MAC keeps adding the proverbial pieces of straw to the camel's back collection after collection, not making enough quantities to satisfy the marketplace. It just gets old. I am done with the drama!

i haven't been on here in a week :( i've been so busy with work.
i had my mac hold these items for me until Thursday:

and unfortunately there is a Sephora a couple of stores down :(

okay so this is way OFF TOPIC but it MIGHT cheer up some people who can't get surf baby goodies. the mac spiced chocolate quad is for sale on all cosmetics wholesale for $80! I emailed them and they only have 3 left and I just ordered mine which means they only have 2 left. If you want to spend the money go buy it before it is gone forever again! sorry for posting I AM TOO EXCITEDDD

Wow, all this online drama is terrible. I hope everyone can get their stuff.

I tried Hibiscus today at my store and wasn't thrilled with it, so I'm going to skip. Pulled a little too orange for me. I just put Swell Baby, Short Shorts, and Strange Potion on hold. I had been considering other shadows, but the MUA suggested these two, they fill gaps in my collection, and I know I'll use them. I'm happy. :)

Swirl girl - yep, I'm kinda feeling that way too. Chanel & other lines have been getting my money lately and I don't have to be awake at midnight to order it!

I just saw how they used Surf the Ocean in Seventeen, and now I kinda want it again. That totally looks like something I would wear! I'll be calling my store tomorrow to see if they have one left to hold and if not, I'm not gonna stress about it. It's just not worth it.

Ladies!! If you plan on going to the Mac store on Thursday for the launch, you might want to call and ask if they are launching on wednesday. Nordstrom's is having their half yearly sale and the Mac at nordstrom's is launching surf baby for their first day of the half yearly sale. I didn't read through the thread to see if anyone mentioned this or not. I don't want any of the specktra ladies missing out by going on thursday and finding out that the collection launched on Wednesday instead!! You bet I will be stalking the store on wednesday. :)

I am so over these ridiculous limited edition sell-outs. I give MAC a pass on some of the smaller truly special collections, but Surf Baby is the big mass collection of the summer.
I'd even understand if one or even 2 much hyped products sold out quickly (think stereo rose or Marine life) but to have SEVEN items already sold out before the traditional on-line release is really crappy.
Ultimately they are losing money on me because along with any collection purchase I make on line, I generally with throw in 1 or 2 items from the perm line to try to build that up in my collection as well. But now I have no reason to order from surf baby (I only wanted hibiscus & my paradise).
Between this frustration and the kibosh on releasing info early, my money has been going to other brands recently.

Even though I was able to get most of what I wanted, I am over the website stalking & late nights too. I just feel done with all of this. If I see something that I like by chance, then yes I will buy it. I just don't like the games that MAC has been playing with limiting the info about release dates and the lack of LE product. I have not really looked into upcoming MAC collections (like semi precious) b/c I don't want to get sucked into the hype of "the must have products that I supposedly can't live without."

Chanel, NARS, and MUFE are much more customer friendly. Plus I don't have to stress about buying a lipstick during the first fifteen minutes of a launch. OK My rant is over now.

Agreed. I almost feel guilty for getting to order, which is ridiculous. I *feel* ridiculous for refreshing and checking over and over to see if these products were available. But the comments here show that I wouldn't have been able to order what I wanted if I'd waited. I'm so irritated at MAC for pulling this crap over and over again. People who try to order early aren't messing things up for anybody because there should be enough product for us all, and even the jackasses who order a slew of stuff just to resell aren't actually messing things up, they're just taking advantage of a problem. They wouldn't be able to command really inflated prices if the supply wasn't messed up in the first place. The problem is MAC jerking their customer base around with this kind of 'product shortage as hype machine' nonsense.

All it does is piss me off and I know I'm not the only one. I know I've mentioned Mickey Contractor at least once before in this thread, and yeah I'm still not over it. That was some

Then after my Wonder Woman MSF got cancelled I decided not to buy the couple of other products from that collection I was originally going to get. I bought a bunch of stuff from the holiday collections but I think that was the last time I bought MAC until I tried to get the WW stuff, my next purchase was actually not until Alpha Girl a couple of weeks ago (which I've wanted forever), and the stuff I ordered late yesterday.

Funnily enough, I don't recall them having shortages of any of the holiday products, which have a more specific, seasonal based purpose, people spend more freely during the holidays and need to buy gifts, they had all these cute sets to take advantage of the holiday shopping mindset, blah blah. They had tons of all those kajillion different Tartan Tale products best I could tell.

I better not get a backorder notice from mac because bordered hibiscus the second t was available. No hesitations. These games are stupid. I've been saying for the longest that these collections should be made available for a limited time, not in limited quantity. They know the demand is high, but they like to play these games. They like frenzy and they know it will continue when certain products are repromoted.

Well. Just got this: "Dear MOCHA Thank you for your recent purchase at M.A.C. Online. Regrettably, we are unable to fulfill your order for the following item(s) as it is temporarily out-of-stock.  We expect to ship the item(s) below within two weeks." Whatever man. I decided not to get sun blonde or saffron if it shows up at Macy's, and will get some sandals with my gift card instead. So. There. Backorder of doom!

Jeez, I'm so indignant that I totally forgot about buying Viva Glam Gaga 2 and one of the new sheen supreme lipsticks.

I am still undecided about Bust Out (lustre finish)! ! Being still relatively new to MAC, I own a couple frosts and a cremesheen. How are lustres in pigmentation?

Thanks in advance for any response :)
