MAC - Surf Baby Discussion

I don't own any stacks but the MA used the gold shade in Surf the Ocean for my look today and it indeed left a bit of fallout. It seemed to me, however, that the texture of the pigments is buttery smooth and very easy to apply. HTH!

Hey ladies! I was going to go to Henri Bendel today but with my final today and forgetting my 20% off bday coupon, I didn't make it. I stopped by a mac store (didn't get anything cuz i want to use my coupon) and did some swatches of things I wanted.

Question, do the stacks have fallout? they seem like they'd be difficult

I think she was referring to Saffron. Cuz out of all the colors this one lacks pigmentation, but it looks so pretty in the pan

I just took your advice and on the back of my hand I put a bit of NYX's Black Bean and put the Sun Blonde over it and it turned this weird green color. Almost like an olive sheen.

ETA : I just tried a white base, black base and gold base for Saffron. For me it works better under a white base. hth

The fallout wasn't *that* bad, I think.
With a simple wipe of a makeup remover wipe, any trace of pigment was gone. ^_^

I have the Surf the Ocean stack and it's actually really nice. There is a bit of fallout, but nothing crazy. The gold shade actually has very little fallout (for me at least) since it's so clumpy in the pot. Makes it hard to get too much to begin with plus it's uber sticky. Not "sticky" but it sticks well to my lid. Hope that helps!

^ funny that this Saffron lacks pigmentation the one from Mickey C. collex was plenty pigmented.

Got my Surf USA and Strange Potion l/g today (along with a few other things).

I am loving how Strange Potion looks and could kick myself for not getting it in the Evil Queen packaging when VV came out (I'm taking Revenge is Sweet to Disney World next month). Such a beautiful coral pink that doesn't clash with my red undertones. Which will go perfectly with....

Surf USA. Hot damn this shade is HOT! Applies so much nicer than my Aquadesiac and looks like a frosty version of my Newly Minted. I'm so impressed with how it looks I may haul a second when I go in for my Surf Baby appt tomorrow. Even if you have a lot of teals this will quickly become the 'star' of your collection. This is going to look stunning over my MUFE #21 (teal) aqua cream.

Anxious to check out the rest of the collection in person tomorrow. Depending on just how mustard yellow it looks, I may get Sun Blonde.

You confirmed the reason why I wanted Surf USA in the first place. I really liked newly minted but hated the matte. I am so happy that you mentioned that!

I am also hoping that Hibiscus pulls very orange, because I have been wanting neo-orange and morange for the longest time. I worked very hard on my class presentation and I feel like I should reward myself for being so diligent this month =)

I was in a work polo and black scrub pants. I walked up to DeMario and asked, "If I ask you for a Hibiscus lipstick, will you laugh at me?" He looked at me like I was my usual crazy self and said no. When he told me how many were left, I knew that I had to get a shout out. I wish that I'd bought another Sun Blonde for my kit. I know that it's not too late, but I need to wait another week. I swatched the shadows that came today and almost had one right there. THIS is why I started loving MAC! I'm literally having problems sleeping because I'm going over looks in my mind. Does anyone think that they're making a conscious effort to improve quality? I know that they've taken hits for their products lately, so maybe they're trying to win us back. It's not through better CS, though - that's still really bad.

My BF got mad at me for wanting to depot my LE packaging eye shadows. I never thought of doing it ever again. He said if I ever got desparate to B2M them, he will even get it for me LOL What a sweet boy <3

no idea, but i'm hoping so. just doesn't seem fair that items are in stock then backordered, then show up in stock and then sell out again. i haven't seen any change in my order since monday, though.

I totally got more than what I intended to buy. Bust Out wasn't even on my list but my fav MAs said it was a must. I was pretty sure I wasn't going to get the Surf the Ocean stack, but I got it too. I had it on hold, but wasn't sure. I asked my fav MA if I really needed it since I wanted to be reasonable and she said YESSSSSS.

Bust Out - Tried it on at the store with Good Lovin and it was nice! My MA asked what it was and she loved the combo!

Gold Go Lightly - I already wore this out and it looked so natural! It gave a nice warmth to my face.

Ugh, just got to the beach for vaca this morning and of course they tried to deliver my package from MAC w/ my paradise and bust out! in it. Buuuut, in good news, I picked up a hibiscus today at the MAC here and its amazing. I love it x 1000. I kinda hope my backorder from MAC for hibiscus gets filled so I'll have a backup.

Yeah, I got the one from MC. I think it would be so dumb of Mac to bring back a color and it not be the same. It's pointless. Looking at it on the blogs, it seems to be the same, but I can't recall and "real" reviews of it. You know, by us normal people who have to go out and fight for/buy our stuff. Plus, a color can show up differently on people. That's the way the game goes. It's a bummer because I think it's a pretty and unique color, but definitely play with it. Perhaps pairing it with a gold can bring the color out more.

I have the Saffron from MC too, and it's got lovely pigmentation. A few people I know that got the SB Saffron mentioned to me that it was a bit streaky. I swatched the SB one yesterday, and it did't swatch as nicely as the MC one. The texture feels a little different.

I picked up my order today, I got a few lipglasses Girl On Board and Good Lovin', Surf! Baby cheek color, gilded white liner and Surf The Ocean stack. And the lip balm in Pink Tinge. My MA said that they got very limited quantities of alot of the items. Which is so weird!

[/quote] No. I ordered from Macys. That's why I got standard because I hate paying them extra for speedy delivery. Then I got mad because the next day the pigments were back on the Mac site. Have you been charged yet?

Totally off topic--I hope you younger ladies can help me out. My daughter (22) is going to a friend's wedding Saturday. Is it appropriate to wear a strapless dress to a wedding? I haven't been to a wedding in I don't know how long and I sure don't know what the younger ladies are wearing. It is an afternoon wedding. It will be hot here. She really likes the dress and asked me if it ok to wear to a wedding. It is not a sexy dress. It is a just above the knee, not deep cut, a tiny sweetheart dip (my daughter has a small chest anyway), pretty much straight across. It is solid plum that is fitted and at the waist flares out so nothing tight, probably a good twirl dress

When I got married 24 yrs ago that would have been a big no-no but people dress differently now for events. Any suggestions?
