Thanks love. I'm really nervous. I don't want to jack up someone's face. It's so intimate.
I'm sure you'll be fine but if it will make you feel better try practicing on a friend. They'll probably have you do hands on practice at some point during training anyway.

Ha! I get my tips here from you awesome ladies.

Thanks love. I'm really nervous. I don't want to jack up someone's face. It's so intimate.
I think you will be astounded at how much more knowledge you have about makeup and application than the average person, just by participating, reading, and educating yourself daily (on Specktra and other venues). You retain so much more of it than you think! You just need to be confident in your knowledge that you DEFINITELY have! THAT'S how you scored this job in the first place... over tons of other applicants! They saw something in you immediately. Your style, your personality, and your knowledge. So hold that pretty head high girl and don't be apprehensive about what you know. The more you apply, it the more confident you will become. CONGRATS again girl!!

So I just received the "lost" package.

And now I have RFL x2, BMS x2, and FMP x4. I'm not going to open anything for a while to see if they're going to charge me for it. If they don't I'll possibly sell the extras.

Congrats MissTT!!! I totally agree with everything PixieDancer said. You'll do great. Greeting a someone with a genuine smile makes them feel appreciated as a customer. At that point you've already set the tone of their attitude towards you. Throw in a compliment about their outfit, hair, bag, or whatever and you've pretty much sealed the deal on a sale & most likely a customer that will look for you next time for assistance. I am practically a full time shopper, at least my hubby thinks that. I know sales people are told to do this stuff but if they seem sincere and not all fake it makes me feel good, particularly if I'm feeling a bit down and need some retail therapy. I like it when a sa chats a little while showing me items. I don't feel that the item is being shoved down my throat. That was my experience in the fragrance dept at Saks while in San Francisco last summer. It was such a turn off. I left and went to Neimans and purchased what I would have at Saks. Sorry I got a bit carried away with my dislike of pushy sa's. I think you're going to love it there. All the people at my Sephora are so nice & helpful. They always seem like they really enjoy their job. I've had a sa that was unsure of a color on me and she asked if I'd wait just a sec while she grabbed another sa for their thoughts. I've never thought any to lack knowledge of the products or application for something like that. I appreciate their honesty and another opinion.

I just got my hands on HN blush and boy, it sure is pigmented. I am kind skeered of it. BTW, MAC really brung it with the packaging on this collection. Best packaging in a summer collection since TTB in my book. They made plenty of money from me buying stuff I really had dupes for just because I wanted it in this packaging.

Yeah it's pretty challenging, but it works great in conjunction with bronzer, or even just on its own, but with really careful placement. Between the TR blushes and the MBs from TT, I've had to completely re-analyze the best spots on my cheekbones for these strong colors. I wound up watching a bunch of old movies from the 40's and 70's, when really bright blush was popular, saw where they were using it, then went back to my face and just played around carefully with a small brush when I had time and wasn't needing to be anywhere. I didn't want to just use a tiny dab and blend it into oblivion - might as well use a totally different blush if you're going to do that. It's doable - just have to get a little scientific about it!!!!

A few ideas: Use only in the spots you would normally get the most sunburned, high up on the apples of the cheeks, then blending down and out from there. Try using it as a pop of color in conjunction with bronzer or a natural brown contour. Use with a lipstick that is more "dirty" colored and mid-tone - things like Mehr or Flaunting It, that have plenty of grey in them, work really, really well if you want a daytime look. Vampy deep lips are another option, but it's a much dressier look and you have to keep the eyes minimal. Of course, if you want to go dramatic with a statement look, just think 80's and pile it on with some insane black smudgy eyes and strut your stuff with maximum

I've been wanting to ask where you should normally put blush. what are your thoughts on that?

I don't understand your description though. high on the apples and blend down and out. by down do you mean towards the nose and out towards the jaw?

He's great and to the point and he shows techniques which are good for everyone or tells you how to do it depending on eye shape, etc. I sometimes watch other girls doing their makeup and I can't really do it the same way as my eyes or face aren't the same. Sounds silly but when you're starting and learning you don't realise this!

I have tried it up on the highest part of the cheeks almost like a highlighter wtith bronzer and contour. I am afraid to do it straight up. Mixed with a bronzer works and keep the rest of the face subdued. It is interesting making the cheeks and face a foval point because usually I focus on the eyes. What brush do you prefer - I have used the 192 works best to put it right where I want it.

the 116 is my favourite - it works for blush and for contouring as well. before i got the yachiyo, i used it exclusively. it's fluffy enough so that it's harder to end up with a big smudge of intense colour you're stuck trying to blend away, while still offering control over placement. ...

Dear friends: I got the job and start tomorrow. Virtual high fives for you assistance and support! If I hadn't joined Specktra I probably would have never pursued this opportunity.
