I would think NC15...I am the same coloring as you and wear all those same colors and that's what I got in SS. It broke me out though! Hope it works for you.

hi everyone! my MAC store is ALWAYYYS sold out of the SS concealer, so I was hoping you all could help me out with ordering the right shade online.

i use NC30 in SS, (normally NC35 in other MAC shades). do the concealer shades run the same as the SS foundation? I will be using it for covering red acne scarring (the foundation doesn't cover these areas too well). would you recommend NC30 or NC25?

thanks!

^ I am the same shade in the SS Concealer as I am in the foundation...I didn't try it out either and it ended up working out.

I really like the concealer! It sounds like the NC's are better for concealing red and the NW's are better for undereye cirlces. So for you, I would think NC30 in the concealer would be it.

I also wear the same shade in the foundation and the concealer....but then again, I'm NC15 in the foundation and there is nothing lighter than that!

I bought SFF instead of SS because it was my HG 1 year ago, and didn't wear any foundation until 2 weeks ago and needed a new bottle. I tried SS and liked it, but I broke out (only one pimple.. but..) after 2 weeks.

So I got my new bottle of SFF yesterday and used it this morning. I can't believe how dark the SFF NC15 is, compared to the SS NC15. (I also can't believe how pale I am right now compared to 1 year ago) Also, I noticed a lot of dry skin on my nose, and it looks cakey after a 2-3 hours.

Long story short, the SS was so flawless compared to SFF, didn't 'melt & cake' after 2-3 hours, skin is smooth, and finally a very pale shade.

I might buy it finally, even if I broke out (only one pimple after 2 weeks so maybe there's hope..). Or if I can find a shade like SS NC15 in MUFE HD, I would try this one. Maybe 117? Is it darker?

Hi everyone! This is only my second post here so be gentle, lol.

I was in desperate need of a new foundation, I have been using studiofix powder and moistureblend concealer, and it always looked awful but I thought it was just my lack of skill, so I barely ever wore foundation.

I have very dry skin, but also in the past year I've had chronic outbreaks, which is annoying because I never used to have problem skin. I also have very large pores and some fine lines. I've always found that with even really light application and good blending/buffing, the foundation/concealer always seemed to make my pores and lines more obvious.

So after reading most of this mega-thread I went down to the mac store (you know it's bad when every rep there knows you by name heh) and tried out a few of the formulations. They recommended moistureblend, but I asked to try SS, and when placed right beside each other on my hand buffed out, I was blown away by the difference! SS was smooth, didn't accentuate lines and light!

The moisture blend, well, did the usual slicked on "hey look at these lines!"

I didnt tell her which number I usually am given (NW15) and asked her to colour match me on my face. She came up with NW20, as she thought the NW15 looked too light, and I agree, nw15 always looks too light or too orangey depending on the type of concealer/foundation.

I bought the P&P as well, and for the first time in my life I am super excited to put foundation on!!

I'll see how it goes and hopefully won't result in more breakouts.

So thanks for the reviews ladies!

I haven't worn many foundations outside of MAC and MUFE. I did try Bobbi Brown and I am Warm Ivory. HTH!

How is everybody applying SS? When the MAC artist used a 190 brush it looked flawless and lasted all day long. There was also no "made up" look.

When I got home I also tried the 190 brush and I tried not to paint too much on but it just doesn't look natural on me. If I use my fingers thats not much help either. I also tried the 187 just in case although he said thats not a good brush as you would really have to work with it and true to what he said it was harder to use. If I use too much it looks bad if I use little it doesn't cover enough. I never had this problem with SFF.

I'm not sure what I can do to get that flawless look that he created. I even tried using a sponge as favoured by a TiffanyD on YT something I havent tried in years but that didnt help either.

I'm now considering getting a 109 or 180 brush (if I can hunt one down). Does anybody have any tips or tricks?

Without a doubt! It is a fantastic brush,

What will the 109 enable me to do? Why is it different?

I didn't like the way the 190 brush worked for SS either. It didn't set well on my face. How are you using the 187? It takes some practice, but if you watch some YouTube Videos, that might help you get the hang of it. I really like the 187 for the SS but I don't "swirl" or paint it on- just stipple/dot it. Check out Enkore's video about this- I found it really helpful

I stippled with the 187 today and thought it looked a bit heavy. I've got the 180 brush coming in the mail, and would you also stipple with that or swirl, stroke, whatever with it?

I was just swirling the foundation around using the 187. Thats what I do with SFF and it works.

I'll try to stipple or dot on the SSF.

Thanks

glad you're happy with the SS. i hate moistureblend and think it should be DC'd, and SS is a good choice seeing as how you're very, very dry. whoever put you in studio fix powder made a big mistake, which is prolly why you weren't having any luck with it. studio fix is not the answer if you have dry skin. the formula, the coverage, the finish, none of it is ideal for dry skin. i hope you continue to get great results this time.

I think today was the best I've gotten my skin to look in SSF. I have been using the 190 to "paint" on the foundation, but today I stippled it on with this brush and the look was amazing.

OK I have a question for Erine or anyone else who feels they can answer, hehe.

I've been using this product for three days now. In terms of breakouts, My skin is actually looking better, but that is probably due mostly to my strict skin care routine, adding tea tree oil blemish stick the same day I started this, and the use of a good primer.

I've been stippling with the 187 and am really happy with how it looks on my skin, it looks flawless and airbrushed, who knew? The coverage is excellent, I used to have to use a lot of concealer and now just need it for undereye, All my blemishes and discolourations are covered with the SS.

My thing is, the coverage is a little heavy for what I'd like on a day to day basis, but I am stumped how to load it onto the 187 in a thin layer before it dries out on the back of my hand. Is there a trick to this? Can I blend it with strobe or something to make a lighter coverage or extend the drying time, or will that affect the integrity of the product? I have a 180 coming in the mail that should arrive this week that I am eager to try out, but in the meantime stippling seems to provide the best effect over buffing and swirling or whatever.

Additionally, today I seemed to have a little trouble getting it to set (I use msf natural), can this be affected by weather or humidity?

TIA
