Confession: I've never tried a Fluidline.

or a paint pot.
I have 3 paint pots, and I dunno what I'm doing wrong but when I apply them my eye area looks dry/patchy once they're applied. I thought it was just dried out, but it's happened with all 3, even when BNIB. I've near on given up making them work for me.

I only own blacktrack fluidline, I have to admit it is fantastic and I would recommend it, but I've not jumped on the fluidline train and bought any others or LE's, mainly because I haven't perfected liner on my upper lashline and I'd rather not waste the money not using something, no matter how gorgeous the colour is.

Hmmm, maybe you put on too much? I use PPs as base and sometimes if I put too much it can look like too dry. I use fingers to apply.

I'm not able to do any wings and did not buy Fluidlines for a while because almost all liners (waterproof or not) gave me panda eyes, but they are really great.

Hm, that is a possibility. I've used fingers and a brush to apply. I'll try again using less and see if it helps any, thanks!

I definitely can't do wings, but it isn't something I think I'd like on myself anyway. I tend not to do much upper lash lining though because I don't have tons of lid space so I'd rather tight line than lash line so my shadow is shown more. Nothing grates me more than having spent ages making my shadow look decent only for it to be covered up by liner.

Le' eek! (everyone please read that in a french voice lol)

There was a point in my life where I livedddddddd off paint pots. I loved them. I've cooled down on eyeshadow now, I have transitioned to lipsticks. But you must try love!
I usually just get so wrapped up in MSFs, blushes and lippies that I ignore the paint pots and fluidlines.

Hey Mosha, do you have a link to Erine's tutorial? I'd like to check it out. I have a couple fluidlines, but haven't messed with em. My eyes are so sensitive I've just started wearing liners within the last couple years. Tries the wing, but eh lol

I don't own any fluid lines but gel liner is my jam and when I told my friend (and fellow makeup addict) that there would be fluid lines in this collection she was like ohhh no. you're in trouble. (more like my wallet is in trouble) so I am definitely interested in these.
I was going to also say I have never owned a paint pot but I think it would just be easier to say that the only MAC products I have are lipsticks and one pigment. I am a newbie

I'm the same, I don't have fluid lines, but I do own gel liners and love they way gel liners apply. If these are really as pretty as they seem I'll probably pick a few up.

If you already love gel liners, fluidlines are great - with some of the most original colors and textures around. They usually don't sell out as impossibly as MAC LE lipsticks and blushes either, so that makes them much easier to get ahold of.

My absolute favorites (if you ever see someone selling a BU or they get repromoted) are, in no particular order: Wholesome (soft moist black - actually that one is my most used of all time for sure), Dark Diversion (also great on my brows), It's Physical (although I prefer doing a smudged liner look with it than a crisp cat eye), Avenue (such a rich, complex color), Ivy (a little sheer, but such a vibrant color for a cat eye), Phlox Garden (perfect shade for green eyes). I'm SO excited about Black Ivy!! That one is probably going to edge out Wholesome, if Nightshade doesn't first.

Some are more like that on me than others, but applying too much is asking for trouble. It's sometimes tricky to get just the right amount on a brush, because it's easy to grab too much. I don't much like applying eye makeup with my fingers, but paint pots are the exception, since the finger warming them up as you spread them on is helpful. I only buy them if I like a particular color to wear on its own…I honestly am not crazy about them as a shadow base, 9 times out of 10. 'Prefer something sheerer as a base with a more grippy texture. The Big Bounce shadows were so good for that. I keep hoping one day we'll either see those again, or something new and similar. NOTHING eradicates my lid texture like those did.

Practice makes perfect. I actually got a MAC lesson once specifically to get tips 'n tricks and even then I had to practice in a magnifying mirror many, many times. When I'd have one eye that came out perfectly, I'd stop everything and just stare at it for a long time and try to analyze exactly where the line was going, eyes open and shut. Eventually, the lightbulb went on over my head and I can bust them out quickly now.

Erine's tutorial is great! It's SUPER important to understand the looking down part. Also for me, I realized that I'd always tilt my head to one side when I did my left eye, but never tilted my head when I did my right. Once I figured out my silly body language and reminded myself to cut it out, my liner became so much more even and perfect on both sides.

I'm going to do a little poking around in the ol' clearance bin and see if I find any good ones. I did think It's Physical looked lovely, but didn't grab it when it was around.

Welp, coming back and seeing swatches I think I can skip this one. I thought I was going to buy all the shadows before, but they're not doing it for me. I'm on a roll here.

Honestly, just snag the ones coming out in this collection first.

I've never had a problem with f/ls drying out on me, personally, but others do, so if you buy one that's been opened, it might have issues. I keep my tightly closed at all times, in their box, in a closed airtight box that doesn't let light in, in a cool place that's not too dry or too damp. I even close the jar between loading my brush for one eye and the other. I also am careful to load my brush by taking a thin layer from the whole surface rather than jabbing out a chunk from the middle, since keeping the top even and smooth and evenly used also seems to help.

No matter how nice some of the recent colors have been, you can always count on a good number of new LE f/ls every single year from MAC, and the technology just keeps getting better, so you could just start collecting them brand new and factory sealed and still build up a nice collection of colors in a very short time.

I'd only really be interested in ones from the CB that are BNIB because I don't think I could bring myself to use a used eye product.

Just kinda hoping to find someone's backup they realized they didn't need. lol

Thanks, liba! Super helpful as always.

My list on this collection is currently down to Green Room and Hidden Motive e/s's so I may look at snagging these fluidlines as well and practising my liner technique. I use the 266 so I know I'm headed in the right direction.. I just lack patience with myself, lol.

If you don't have Deep Fixation, you should consider it. Photos just can't do it justice. I literally own 2 eye shadows that I've BU'ed, out of a sizable collection, but I am seriously considering a BU of DF. It's the most perfect gently smokey, coppery neutral with gorgeous pink duochrome in it. It's just perfect in every way and puts all my others similar colors to shame.

Well, if you like the hunt, go for it, but I am definitely in the "the newer, the better" camp with makeup and there is never any lack of awesome new f/ls per year. Just this year, we've gotten It's Physical, Our Secret (another awesome one), Chilled (the only one I didn't buy, but only because I've got something similar already), Sassy Moss, Phlox Garden and now the three new ones in this collection. There's also that rumor Wholesome is coming back. There will certainly be at least a few more for fall through holiday, too. The new ones just get smoother, easier to spread, and more opaque than ones from even one or two years ago!

I might just wait until these unless I find an It's Physical for sale. These do sound absolutely gorgeous and may be the only things I get from this collection.
