All Things Sephora

Yeah, I like their points system in that you actually get money off vs a little sachet of foundation in the wrong shade. Hopefully they do. They seem to get things later than other stores

That's how Sephora plays us.

it really is cheeky of them, at least a sample in the right shade, or maybe a product that more ppl use. I don't use foundation it's so uncomfortable for me personally
I mostly go for the skincare samples. Skincare and lippies are the point perks I usually go for.

I got my Hypnotic Poison and I'm a VIB again. Oh Lordy! I've been sitting here putting together my palettes, but since my kid has been getting up at 8am lately I should probably get to bed.

YUP! My Sephora used to do that to me. "Oh, that's never correct. It can't be updated." I used to believe it until another location was so willing to go in the back and get the items to sell it to me, no questions asked or hesitations. I was shocked. So now when they tell me it's not accurate, I always go: (as polite as I can be) "Really? It's never been wrong before. Usually it means it's in the back. Would you mind checking for me please?" And flat out ask them. They usually don't have an excuse not to at least attempt to look in the back for me, if they're not busy. Lately all the SAs have been busy doing makeup. Do all sephora SAs do color? I feel like my store needs more people who are just on the floor to help. I've been having to chase them down for help. If the first SA tells me no, I'll ask someone else and see if they say the same thing. I'll try to ask the manager if she's there, she's nice.
Thanks for the tip, I'm going to be more assertive from now on and see how they respond. I've thought about asking them to check the back before, but they are so quick to shut me down when i mention the locator that I assume that they will pretend to go in the back & not check a thing. I'm definitely going to try it though. I've also noticed that they're doing A LOT more make up applications/tutorials at the locations I go to. In fact, when I go up to pay now the cashier always asks if "anyone helped me with color application." This started a few months ago, so I guess it may be something new they've been doing this year. It's actually really annoying for shoppers b/c, as you said, there are less SAs to help on the floor AND the SAs are so aggressive with pushing customers out of the way and grabbing testers right out from under us for their "color applications." It's definitely annoying.

they should exchange it for u AT the sale price!! I meeeean they'll refund it at the sale price soooo...
They will exchange it at the sale price/even exchange. They did it for me during the sale back in November with a Nars Audacious lipstick. I ordered Brigitte, but then changed my mind and decided I wanted Anna after the sale was over. I went in store and they did an even exchange for me. The cashier just did some sort of override or something with the manager's approval.

I got YSL Black Opium. I've had a sample for a while, and I test it out sparingly. There's something about the way it smells on me that has me sniffing my wrist constantly when I'm wearing it. So I decided it was time to spring for a bottle of it.
You know what's been doing it for me? Chloe! Like what? Not a new fragrance, just Chloe. I've asked two different women what they were wearing and it was Chloe both times. I may need it.
I love Chloe! When I started looking for another perfume during last year's Chic Week sale, I came across Chloe. I ended up getting the two sets that included three Chloe scents to tide me over until November when I got the regular and Roses de Chloe in full size. Now I want Love Story.

I tried to get it price matched this morning on Nordstoms chat.. but it was super early in the a.m.. It was still showing instock online but you couldn't add it to your cart.   They told me I had to talk to someone in the beauty department but it didn't open for another 2 1/2 hours.. when it was finally time.. I checked Macy's again - it was no longer saying it was in stock :-( so I decided to not bother contacting them again. I am glad you were successful.  I might try again tomorrow. Did you get it already? If so, how do you like it?
I just picked it up last night, I didn't try it yet! Still sleepy from working a double lol

Definitely does! I really do want to think that all employees want to help me to their best capabilities, but unfortunately, having numerous bad dealings with SAs makes me a bit wary of them. I know my complaints sound very "high horse" of me, and I don't intend them to come off that way! Just, I worked in a place where customer service had to be 100% or they moved on to the next rep. Surveys were key in our employment. So, naturally, I've come to expect the best customer service possible, and I know that's not always going to happen in the real world. HONESTLY, I really think it's because the Sephora I work at-- a lot of the people are just working there for their part-time money to put them through school, since I'm in a town were the majority of the population is college students. I notice when I'm at other Sephoras back home, the SAs are always, always stellar and passionate about makeup and excellent customer service. There are just a few in this local store that don't even try to hide the 'don't care' vibe that it really puts me off and I end up venting on here.

But yeah, moral of the story is that I really shouldn't judge all SAs based on how some are. Which is true to all people in general. :)

thanks for clearing it up! seriously!

No I know, I am definitely not excusing some people that don't want to help.
Believe me, as a client/andSA I have seen my fair share of co workers that don't want to work or hate working there. :/
But yea moral of the story is don't trust the online product locator! call them and make sure that it's in store, get the SA's name that will be holding it for you, and tell them exactly when u will stop by. That works! :)
