The MAC x Rodarte thing was such a mess! I remember when it was discussed at a gothic lolita forum that I used to go and the comments got out of proportion. Most agreed that it was disrespectful to the women from Juarez and Mexico and wouldn't support such a thing, others would buy select items and reserve judgement/neutral, while very few didn't seem to mind the names. TBH, I like the colors (color fiend here) and would love a collection with the exact color scheme, but the inspiration behind it was terrible and of poor taste. The names were and are still really tacky and awful. I remember a friend if mine and I being really excited for the blush, BP, MES (even the one with red), and the lipglosses until we kept reading the color story and saw Juarez and we were like "Why the heck would you name a pink nail polish Juarez?!" because Juarez = violence/drugs/murder/kidnapping which was a no brainer for us due to the media and the ongoing violence in Mexico and the borders. We talked about in a marketing class and it turned out into a huge debate about politics, ethics, and marketing fails. Despite liking the colors and some of the items, I'm glad that people got MAC and Rodarte to shut that collection down. I still wish for MAC to release a collection with exact or similar colors though and without those awful names, but who knows. However, if MAC does a collection with Terry Richardson or with some other skeeze ball, that would make me stop buying from MAC permanently no matter what.
That guy (no pun intended) was such a mess, ugh. I didn't bother with that collection but I don't buy much from Nars in the first place. The Guy Bourdin supporters are messy too. I guess art is truly subjective. :/
I agree with you about the collection to be more like Hayley Williams, I loved that one!
