I'm going with Bette Midler on this one, even though she's in her 60s. She fits the bill in every other way I think.

Cassandra Peterson also crossed my mind - AKA Elvira. Any thoughts on that?

First time reading this thread and now I'm SOOO freakin' curious! I want to know! hahahaha. There are some GREAT guesses coming from you ladies! Betsey Johnson? Omg I adore her! Bette Midler? Sounds interesting but I adore her also! Dolly Parton? She's soo fun and not afraid of anything! Goldie Hawn? Meh. She's okay. Madonna? No way. hahaha.

That's how I feel about Madonna. She annoys the hell out of me. She does the same crap over and over and people go gaga over it every time. BE ORIGINAL FOR CHRIST SAKE. Everyone says, "She's always evolving and changing things up." I say "Bulls**t!!! David Bowie is the true chameleon of all artist. That man made music and entertainment history. He's an ICON. Also, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE something with the Cure or the Smashing Pumpkins but I seriously don't ever see those happening.

I don't think the criteria for a MAC icon is limited to only actresses though. I hope not! For me, Betsey Johnson, Deborah Harry, or David Bowie would be beyond amazing!

She's definitely made her mark in the fashion industry though. She's been there for some time as well, so I wouldn't rule her out. It's MAC, they like to change it up. You never know.

I only say this because the clues (mentioned earlier in this thread) to who the new icon is included the individual being an actress...Unless I have that wrong...

Aaah, so one of the clues *is* that she's an actress. Well hopefully Betsey would do a colaboration with MAC someday like Heatherette did! Those colors would be so girly and pretty.

Of course I would love Madonna but I don't think that'll ever happen in my lifetime. I hope not Betsey Johnson she just doesn't seem like an Icon to me, maybe for a smaller campaign like they did for Zandra Rhodes or Y & Kei or something. I would love Dolly Parton too, she would be so fun!

ok, talked to someone else on live chat because I was on there anyway lol and I got this response about Icon:

Brooke: very cool, thank u so much

also while i have u here, will there be an icon collection this year?
Brandy: No. It was replaced with our Fafi and Heatherette Collections this year.
Brooke: ok thank you

Brandy: We will be focusing more on our collaborations with artists for the near future.

that's odd cause in the original thread discussion about the icon that i quoted a few pages back, there was a member who said they knew who the icon is going to be. plus erine's co-workers heard about who it is too, they just can't remember. i think brandy was misinformed. *fingers crossed*

When I asked my manager she said that the last few Beauty Icons didn't do very well so that's why we didn't have one this year.

That's because the RW collection was boo boo. But I wish I could get my hands on some of the Devenue stuff. That collection seemed awesome, but alas, it was before my [MAC] time.

I just want to add that I think Halle Berry would be a great Icon. But she's got a deal with REVLON so I don't see that happening either.
