Still considering Richly Honed too
Still considering Richly Honed too
good to know... I was looking at copper beech. I kinda like the yellow one for highlighting. My least favorite thing is the pressed pigment. I bought Beaming. Now, glossing over this page and the last I guess Mac Guy suggested how to do w/o the glitter. I guess I'll have to go back and read that. I feel like Kesha right now. My hands and face with glitter. I didn't even use much. It's a pretty color, but wow. I thought it was shimmer and not glitter that would be in the product. It's a little rough to the touch (not a negative or a positive). The color itself looks pretty natural on me b/c it's within my skin tone. I wanted a subtle, shimmery look, so I wasn't expecting anything dramatic. However, w/ the hassle of dealing with the glitter, I guess I should've chosen the darker shade to have something to really show for the effort. Even if I find a better way to work with this, I'm not buying anymore. One is enough.
I have ended up with Pure Sculpture and Coffee Walnut, I was considering Richly Honed instead to use on my darker clients and then having PS as an option to mix but decided CW. I am hoping that I have picked right to mix with warm and cool tones and different skin colouring. I also grabbed the brush. Here are my swatches from my blog
Copper Beach, Coffee Walnut, Pure Sculpture, Naturally Defined, Accentuate, Richly Honed
NW20 for reference
OT: Funny I never paid any attention to Cindy Sherman's lips! When that collex debuted, I found myself wishing MAC had released a vid showing how she transformed herself.
I so love Violetta! I Purchased a b/up of it!!!
After reading all the post & seeing swatches I'm still not sure which sculpting cream to get!
I did a chat w/MAC this evening & the MUA suggested CW (Coffee Walnut) for my skin tone (NC 45).
She also suggested Spot Lit pressed pigment.
Uh - for real - I don't want a contour that may turn green on my cheeks!
CW does kinda look like Blunt blush.
I may have to wait until these hit the counter next week.
I've been so waiting for this collex!!!
Does anyone have any suggestion??? I definitely have warm tones in my skin - green veins on wrist!
I tried it on my friend who is an NC30-35. We both had a good laugh as it was a noticeable green-yellow cast. From the newer photos I am seeing, I can definitely pick up the green tones in the Coffee Walnut. That would look bizarre on some warmer tones. If it was truly a
cool color without green, I would say go with the cool for shadowing, but in this case, i am thinking the warmer darks like RH or CB would work better perhaps.
I imagine it did look crazy!I tried it on my friend who is an NC30-35. We both had a good laugh as it was a noticeable green-yellow cast.![]()
I imagine it did look crazy!
I am noticing on swatches done on NW tones CW seems to look nice, but I can just imagine it on NC tones- HAHAHAHAHA
On a crazier note- that would be a great color to have on hand for special effects makeup or monster makeup for costume parties
in Oct on people with warmer skintones LOL
Also great for achieving a sick appearance if you want to look convincing on a sick day. *chuckles*
When my DH gets sick, he turns green-yellow just like that- it looks like he got punched in both eyes and his entire face gets a green yellow end of bruisey cast to go with it. It is so strange.... especially if you have some redness on your cheeks. I like it on myself (NW15-20).
It was more like a bad bruise that turned from blue to green-yellow.![]()
If you have neutral to slight yellow undertones, CW might still work. It's really like picking a foundation. You need to try it on yourself as so much depends not only on your complexion, but also on your eye color, hair color, and pigmentation of your lips. If the contour color is off, everything will reflect this color. It's not for everyone, but one those who can wear it, it looks stunning. The safest one is probably RH as it is the most neutral one. Given the fact that it can be sheered out completely, it also works on pale NW/NC10 - 15s.
I did a live chat with MAC last night and she suggested Naturally Defined (I'm NC15). It looks pretty close to my skin tone so I'm not sure. I ordered both Naturally Defined and Pure Sculpture. The Pure Sculpture because British Beauty Blogger said it was the perfect blush color (and I know she's pale). I do have a thing for amber/brown blushes so it sounded good for me. I'm a little upset that these are limited edition (they are, aren't they?). Contouring seems like such a basic thing.Pure Sculpture looks good to get a real dark contour on NC20 skintone... Naturally defined might not do much for me... Be a tad darker than my skintone..
Thanks! I really should pick up a few- I have a ton of excellent HD colors that I use for contour work, but the finish does not go to a powder finish- this might be handy to have. Does it crease on the eye lids?Yes, they dry down to a powder finish. Texture and finish are actually quite nice.
Nice. That makes me feel better about getting a semi solid contour product. It looks like the lighter, warm toned pressed piggie could be a dupe for Naked piggie in pressed form?Yes, they dry down to a powder finish. Texture and finish are actually quite nice.
