i never have a remotely interesting mac purchase story, until today so i thought i'd share my day with specktra:
today started as planned. did a quick run by the office, hour workout at the gym...i was going to stay longer but i kept looking at the clock with it in the back of my mind that SOMETHING from the collection would already be gone from my counter (i know, it'll all be in cco's for months, but that is what was in my greedy mind).
so i finally get to the counter a little after noon. six people are there, three seated and tapping their feet with a slight air of impatience about them. there is only one mua doing one woman's face. never seen this mua before, but she made eye contact with me and said she'd be with me as soon as possible.
well, i'm not on a timed schedule at this point in the day, so i mull around in the shoe department. handbags. clothes. (this is a Belk store by the way). i'm bored. i make a circle around the counter again..i've already narrowed it down to what i want: smoke and mirrors,superdupernatural mb,pink lip bag. in fact, a half hour later with all of the same six people sitting there i feel like a vulture swerving around chanting in my head if i can get the chance to interrupt the mua i will say 'smokeandmirrorssuperdupernaturalpinklipbag that'sall please'.
(and this counter space is tiny..in fact with so many collection displays sitting out they had put the biggest display of the holiday pallettes/face kits/brush and lip and eye bags in the MIDDLE of the counter...around on the inside where usually just the mua stands....so my looking around is somewhat obtrusive to the people sitting).
i eventually break out of my trance and realize i've been wandering around in housewares and it's now been an hour. still working on the same one lady, all 5 others sitting and foottapping/eyerolling/watch checking/heavy sighing.
so yes, i leave, defeated. i figure i'll go tommorrow morning and get my items, or maybe even order online (although i am impatient and suddenly really want my things NOW).
i run a few errands, realize proably since it's been about 3 hours i'll catch a lull in the day and can just make my purchase. i return to the store. guess who is there? the same one lady that has been there in the mua's chair for at least 4 hours now!!! wtf is she doing here? two of the people waiting previously are still sitting and waiting and make polite smiles to me. i catch part of overextended stay chair sitter's conversation with the mua: she wants an eye kit but there is one that doesn't include the mascara and she NEEDS the mascara.
omg. i leave. f-this, i will order online.
i come home and do odds and ends of cleaning. think about ordering online, then no i'll just go tommorrow morning. then, my husband calls for us to meet for dinner.....at a restaurant right by Belk with the chair sitter in mac.
i run in before going to dinner thinking maybe perhaps, i get my chance to spend my money! i go in, NO ONE is at the mac counter. including the mua!! wth? noooooooooo. but never fear, the clinique girl is here!! she slides behind the mac counter and asks me wasn't i here earlier? (mmhmmm..pouty face). i blurt out my prerehearsed chant 'smokeandmirrorssuperdupernaturalpinklipbag..pleas e' and she starts looking around for what drawer all the holiday collection stuff is in. she can't find them. now i know what drawer all the new stuff is USUALLY in, so at this point i'm actually helping her look for stuff. the estee lauder lady comes over and helps us look. we find the lip bag and the smoke and mirrors. they apologize profusely over not being able to find superdupernatural. i shrug and tell them it is not their fault and it's no big deal, i'll proably just order in online. they apologize some more.
the estee lauder mua asks me wasn't i here earlier. i say yes i was, but i saw they were busy. and i ask where all the mac mua's are today, they usually have 3 or 4 on the thursdays when a new collection comes out. well, one had an emergency in her family and could not come in, and the one who was at the counter earlier working on chair-sitter for hours HAD TO GO HOME JUST A LITTLE WHILE AGO BECAUSE SHE FEELS LIKE SHE'S COMING DOWN WITH THE FLU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so i hope you like all your one on one personal overly ridiculous amount of time attention today chair-sitter!
and i just ordered superdupernatural online. i had wanted nuance, don't need chimpagne, i believe i will like superduper more than i would have nuance, it's more pigmented.
