a agree with lah-knee. even amongst the internet mac fan base, mostly here, LJ, and mua, paints have a limited number of fans. hopefully, mac will release a suitable replacement for those who do like paints, because in the current packaging and formula, i find them to be somewhat of a pain. i prefer shadesticks, although i would definately give paint pots a try. i think change can be good...and it certainly is better than seeing the same old recycled collection of 5 re-named LE lipsticks, lipglasses, and eyeshadows, like we've seen for every release since about culturebloom.

I'm actually looking forward to these.. there is so much room for improvement in the eyecolor-base realm, we can only hope that that's what MAC is after - IMPROVEMENT. I'd kill for something that will keep creasing at bay like UDPP, but is tacky enough to make minerals, pigments, etc. stick. I'm not into any of the colors of permanant paints anyhow.. my favorite was Matisserie. Everything else is too pink or too gold IMO :/

I just went to update yesterday so heres the scoop.
They will not be replacing paints. They are an 8 hour and paints are 12. Think fluidline mixed with paints.
Nordstroms will be the only ones to have them until late fall. Nordys get them in july. If you want them call and have someone at your nordies set them aside..as a preorder because trust me...these are going to fly out!
also there will be 2 shadows pallettes and 5 lip pallettes. Email me for the details or check my myspace next month
Nords will also be the only ones to have Novel Twist a collection i dont see anyone mentioning, This is the two brush sets (basic and pro) and a whole collecton that is NORDSTROM EXCLUSIVE! Email me with any question or if you would like me to presell you anything from that collection its only $5 shipping.

ya guys need to realize the point of these sets are not for the big fanatics like us. they are for everyday consumers who like mac. so many people miss the opportunity to buy this stuff and theyalways come in asking for it. so thats why they basically launch the same types of sets every year. plus its always nice to get a brushset like these for traveling. that way if u lose its not a big loss but its still good quality for travel.

If they aren't replacing paints then it seems to me there's little use worrying about the shortcomings of the paint tubes or the love of what's inside them. We get the best of both worlds - continue to have the paints we love (or most of them anyway) and something new to play with in these pots.
Personally, I'm excited that there's a burgundy one. I've been looking for a good burgundy cream shadow or something similar. Hopefully this will fit the bill.

Do you know what the color theme/pattern is for the packaging? What color are the brush sets?

I hope they don't put them in pots b/c as anyone who wears long nails can attest, you can't get it out of the pot! Stila creampots things come to mind. I have to use a qtip, which wastes a bunch. Boo. I've never had a problem with the tubes. I actually like how they look, like real paint tubes in art stores.
