Is it time to start a "Counterfeit M·A·C" forum?

Yes, I have an old screw top blush.

Yes, that blush in the auction is fake. I posted it on the Fake MAC e/s thread on Cozy.com, I'm om a mission! It's a pretty bad fake, isn't it?

If you open the auction page, look for the "neighborhood watch" along the top. You can report an auction for various reasons, I choose violation of terms. I've been putting something like "this is a fake" before with no response. So, the last one I reported, I wrote a short list of why it's a fake. Maybe if enough people report these fakes, Yahoo! will do something!

Here is my Untitled I got directly from the mac counter.
The end of my flammable paint has a red sticker. The other paints I own don't have sticker, rather just the color of the packaging is different.
The M on the Mac is different too, it doesn't have a slit..
check it out...

I seem remember reading on one of the MAC communities on LJ that some of the older paints did not have the color names printed directly onto the tube, but had stickers. I purchased a WTL lipgelee with the same sort of sticker situation. HTH!

Yup thats right, older paints don't have names. The good news is I've had mine for longer than I can remember, and they are still like new (in terms of the freshness of the product, not how much is in there).

I didn't know if since this was an old standard color for MAC if this was possibly an old tube and they used to look like this before I started using MAC or if I had been had. The color was still very pretty on. Anyone know?

I got one these too....it's a fake! I posted a pic a couple pages back. I was so ticked!

Per the eBay 'Help' page regarding 'Replica, Counterfeit Items and Unauthorized Copies', their guidelines are as follows:

Counterfeits, unauthorized replicas, unauthorized items (such as counterfeit watches, handbags, or other accessories) or unauthorized copies (such as copies of software programs, video games, music albums, movies, television programs, or photographs) are not permitted on eBay. Unauthorized copies include (but are not limited to) copies that are pirated, duplicated, backed-up or bootlegged. It is illegal to sell unauthorized copies of media.

Guideline: If the product you are selling bears the name or logo of a company, but it wasn't made or endorsed by that company, don't list it on eBay.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

Listing cancellation

Limits on account privileges

Account suspension

Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

Loss of PowerSeller status

Report counterfeit or replica items.

With that being said, the more people that join together to report these sellers for counterfeit items, we can only hope to either "escort" them off of eBay, or at the least, see a dramatic decline in their sales.

Below is a listing which I have recently reported. It's sad that they are trying to beat the system now with their 'Buy it Now' 1-Day auctions. It's probably listed as such to either avoid having it pulled by eBay since it's listed for such a short period of time, or with the intent that someone will snap it up fast. I feel for the people that spend their money in hopes of a good deal when they don't know any better.

As for the auction that I reported to eBay that they couldn't address/remove as counterfeit in time:

http://cgi.ebay.com/18-MAC-EYE-SHADO...cm dZViewItem

The auction ended early with Buy It Now.

I just had a feeling it was going to happen... and now the girlycookiemonster will have 18 pieces of crap ass eye shadow that she spent a total of $106 on.

The other terrible thing about it is it gives MAC a bad rap to those that don't have a clue that it's counterfeit.

i tried it out and it worked fine, just like all the other paints. Hopefully it was just an older package.

Is it genuine or counterfeit?

I have a gesso in my collection from a few years back. It was a color carried by Mac.

I think eBay user gettingglam's new ID is barneysemporium, not 100% sure of course but both are from the UK, his listings and descriptions are identical to gettingglams, "MAC Eye Shadow, BRAND NEW, BOXED, Colour 18" etc, feedback is surprisingly private and he just registered in January [gettingglam disappeared around that time...].

I am so glad I found this out. I have definitely seen some fake MAC brushes that were not even brushes they had ever had, but I never thought about the fact that they could do lipglosses and eyeshadows that way. Seems like you could start your own makeup company and do better that way. I know a lot about MAC and the colors and stuff, but I am so not observant...I would never notice if I had gotten a fake if it were just a matter of the hinge or the name. I haven't been ebaying a lot lately anyway, but this is important to know!

My paints that are older have no name and no net weight printed on them. Perhaps you got one that 4-5 years old like mine are. I think they changed over the packaging in the past 3 years. Hopefully it works as well.

Eek, I just bought a shadestick and pro palette from eBay. I'm quite sure that the shadestick is real... would anyone mind taking a look at them, if I took a pic?

I haven't recieved the palette yet but when I do? I'd be gutted if the palette was fake, I spent over £20 on it

Here's the listing, but that could be a stock/stolen pic...
