MAC Middle Eastern Lipsticks Shade Extension Discussion (Fall 2012)

I was skipping this thread, but recently checked out the colors on-line, and now i look forward to seeing them in person. I'm on the hunt for some brown lipsticks and Yash, Double Shot, and Tabla are definitely up for a test. And Mehr might by MLBB, since i have strongly colored lips.

Back in the early 1960s, when i was around 13, i looked in vain for a true medium-light brown lipstick - everything that was slightly brownish leaned orange, and orange lips and i do NOT get along. It wasn't until Biba cosmetics in the late 60s/early 70s that i found cream-finish lipsticks in both a true medium-light brown and a true medium-dark brown.

Of course, how a brown lip looks really depends on one's coloring, skin, hair, eyes, and the color of one's lips - and the rest of the makeup one wears with the lip color. I'm neutral pale with dark-ish brown hair and hazel brown eyes, so browns look pretty good on me. If a brown is too close to one's skin color, though, it might may a person look washed out - the way really pale nudes look on me - like lip eraser!

From what i've seen of swatches now, I think Double Shot and Yash may be mine. Tabla definitely leans too orange for me. And Mehr looks like MLB a tad darker, so it could be good too!

My local MAC says they don't have them. So, well, between these and Prince Noir, i may be making the trek to my closest MAC Pro shop.

I finally got my package with Mehr and Double Shot. I haven't tried on Mehr, but Double Shot is interesting lol. It's a warmed version of Spice, but I think I like Spice better, so I'm glad I got BUs of that shade, and that Double Shot is permanent. I think when I wear DS, I'll wear it more as a stain.

I picked up Mehr when the Mickey Contractor collection came out and love it! I would very much like to try on Tabla, Doubleshot, and Yash, but the MAC stand alone store here isn't carry these lipsticks. I've been told that they are only available at one Canadian store, but no one seems to be able to tell me which one, least of all the customer service line. I'm going to guess and say it's somewhere in Toronto.

Hmm I have Spice and I really like it,but in the summer it doesn't work for me as well. Maybe DS will be a good summer neutral for me!

Spice has a rosey quality that I like, it's still a MLBB shade. Double Shot is nice, and I think with my complexion it will work if I decide to dye my hair red again. Right now I'm brunette as it's my "real" hair color and I can get away with a wider range of shades.

Is it possible to let me know if Mehr is much different from Pink Plaid & Please Me? I don't like Please Me. I never own Pink Plaid but it looks cute. Christine of Temptalia did a very nice swatch of Mehr. So I cant decide. Thanks

I think Mehr is definately a darker pink shade compared to both Please Me & Pink Plaid. Mehr is a perfect everyday neutral pink shade. It falls into the MLBB category It's beautiful on many skin tones...

IMO Mehr is darker than Pink Plaid. they are exactly alike though if you understand what i mean. it's like a shade darker though.

I was at the Cerritos Californa mall today and happened to just browse the freestanding MAC store and happened to pick up Yash while looking at testers. Then I found Mehr so that store carries these now which is cool. I wonder if the Cerritos store is a high volume or not.

The texture is wonderful and it is a nice neutral nude with almost perfectly balanced pink/brown/yellow. My lips are not super pigmented and I am NC20 for reference. I think almost anyone will find it to be a great nude. It can work like erase paste too to block out lip color as a base for other lipsticks. Color is similar to Siss if you are familiar with it, but less yellow and the texture is smoother. For me, Fleshpot is too pastey and most other nudes are too pink, Yash is the best nude I have seen with no yellow or pink undertones.

I got Tabla yesterday, and tried it on last night. I liked it! I was intrigued by the orange base it has. It looks good with the dab&smoosh technique. I'm also NC20 (and a redhead).

Can anyone tell me if the matteness of Mehr is the "new" matte formula which is meant to be creamy or the old, dry matte formula?
