MAC Spring Trend Lip Palette Discussion

I understand paparazziboy about the MUA not knowing about stuff ahead of time. I meant no disrespect.
It was just funny how three of them just looked at me as if I was speaking alien. The issue previously with the Violetta lipstick I took personally. Which I do get over sensitive at times, sometimes for no reason. I just would like to know if this palette will be avail to non-pro members at sometime online?

well i will tell you i work for mac and we didnt get anything about the pallet in a memo i checked trust me im just that much of a mac head and know the right people that i knew about the pallet but i didnt know it was gonna be released like it was online. so u can't really blame the artists. we dont know things unless we are told. or know the right people even if its a pro store only the senior artist have access to all the products before the people who work in the stores/counters hear about them.

Just to add my 2 cents here... The Toronto pro store knew about this since before the new yr and I believe released it this month on the 5th

Forgot to add: These are Amplified and Cremesheen finishes.

Woah. I really love those finishes, but I hate palette form. I just love the lipstick form the best and the palette is kinda messy unless you use a lipstick brush, which is a pain in my opinion. I really, really like the colors though. Tough decision...

It IS called Spring Trend - I think you'll be able to find similar colors in individual tubes sprinkled throughout the upcoming Spring collections. Nice for travel, though.....

Thanks for this info, looks like a Pro Store trip will sneak into my schedule this week... :)

I would actually prefer a tube of lipstick in these colors & finishes. I hope you are right Liba. Though the palette does look pretty, I'm not going to make myself insane trying to get it.

Apologies that it seems to take me much longer to upload swatches and reviews. It's terribly overcast weather in New England and it's hard to photograph anything in natural light.

Let me start my review by saying that this is a Pro product with Pro artists in mind. It comes in very handy to have a small palette - the same size as a regular quad - in your hand than fiddling with l/s or pressing individual colors into lip palettes - for those who still remember those genius MAC Pro lip palettes, which have been sadly d/c a few years ago. I love those! Anyway, I think it's a frigging awesome idea to come out with lip palettes that feature the latest Spring trends.

I have to admit that originally, I was not fond of the idea of a lip palette. Messy, unhygienic, color combinations that I might not like - I believe my list was rather long. However, this palette has quite changed my mind, especially as a palette and the particular finishes make it very easy to not only use the six colors, but to create many more custom shades. I think I get at least 12 different shades out of this palette, which is simply fantastic.

Using a clean (!) lip brush, a spatula, and a mixing palette is essential if you want to create a custom blend, but mixing Cremesheens and Amplified finishes is oh-so-much-fun. With 6 gramm in total or 0.21 ounces, it won't be too hard to finish the palette within a season, so my worries about it drying out have diminished.

Preferred Pink is the reason why I bought this palette. I had tried it during the summer and I loved. Though even I was hesitating a bit to buy a palette, I'm thrilled that I did. PP has an amplified finish, though it is not super creamy as some amplified finished can be. It has the right amount of creaminess to glide on easily without feathering or bleeding. It looks very pink in the pan, with a rose undertone that makes this color wearable across a lot of complexions. On my hand, the swatch is still very bright, but on my lips, it is a very natural MLBB color that is very very flattering.

For those of you who like Petting Pink TLC, Preferred Pink is the l/s version of it without the glossy-ness. You probably recall the photos from fashion week where PP was used to create an ultra natural look. Well, if applied in a thin to normal (not heavy!) layer, it is very easy to achieve this "just kissed" and "full of love" lip color that brightens up your overall complexion w/o screaming heavy l/s.

If you have missed out on Flamingo, you can achieve a similar result on the lips with PP. It is not a dupe as it is a different finish (amplified versus lustre), and it Flamingo is lighter and more coral in the tube/pan, but on the lips, especially if you use a thin layer, they look very similar if you blend PP very well.

This is definitely my favorite color for Spring as it looks just so fresh. Absolutely gorgeous!

Warm to Bare has a Cremesheen finish although it seems as creamy and opaque as the amplified finishes in the palette. I would call is color as pale milky mandarin - almost like a mandarin sister of Flamingo. It is a great way to embrace an orange lippie w/o going for a full-on orange lip. On my medium-pigmented slightly mauve-toned lips, this color reads lighter and certainly less orange than it does in the pan. Don't be fooled by the brightness of it in the pan. In fact, it's a very natural shade once it is on the lips, especially as the milky hues come through stronger than the mandarin-ness. There are no brown undertones in Warm to Bare, although the pan color might suggest some brown hues. However, it definitely leans on the warmer side of mandarine, but the brightness is rather subtle due to the milky finish.

Again, similar to Preferred Pink, I think this shade works best applied in a think or medium-think layer, and not a heavy one. That is just my personal preference though as I dislike cakey lips - or anything cakey for that matter on the face. If applied lightly, it dries down to a semi-matte satin finish, if applied in a medium layer, you will achieve a sophisticated sheen that looks natural rather than artificial. Think of well-hydrated lips and the sheen that they have.

IMO, it is a perfect companion of Fresh Honey MB as it reflects some of the orangeness w/o drawing too much attention to the lips. While you can certainly notice orange hues, I would still classify WtB as a natural shade that could be a good MLBP color.

I found it a little bit more drying than Preferred Pink, but nothing that a good moisturizer can't help. It's a lovely lippie and definitely very en vogue for Spring 2012.

Fully Ripe has an Amplified finish that is very creamy - I would say it is the most creamy color of all six shades in the palette.

It is a full in-your-face neon orange that will definitely draw all the attention to your lips. Personally, especially as a guy, I would not wear this color, but it is a very nice blending color to give other shades an orange hue. It is very bright and extremely pigmented, thus a little will go a very long way if you want to blend it with another color. it also leave a stain on the lip, so it might be very well used as a stain (apply, blot it down completely, et voila, you will have a great orange stain).

Fully Ripe is very bright, although the orangeness has a certain depth that are usually associated with darker colors. It might the sheen from the amplified finish that makes it appear more dimensional. If you dare to wear such a bold color on it's own, I'm sure it will look fabulous with a very neutral eye and a light application of blush. Especially if you have blue eyes, the orange on your lips will be so bright making your eyes pop - yes, that strong is the color. It's an amazing color.

For my own purposes, I blend a very tiny amount of FR with Preferred Pink or Flamingo, which makes them more vibrant rather than orange if I really stick to just using the tip of a spatula. If you use it on your own, you will definitely achieve a true to pan color on your lips with just one application. It is extremely pigmented!

If you are a WOC or have a tanned complexion, FR can certainly look like a great and bold color. As it is not too warm either - by that I mean there are warmer oranges - I don't find it teeth-yellowing.

Warm to Bare

How does Warm to Bare compare to Siss? These are great swatches by the way, you should get a free palette from MAC for doing this!

I agree with you that products - especially cream products - can look yucky when you start using them. I try to avoid this by using them from the edge rather than from the center. It's an easy way to keep a palette pleasing to the eye.

And thanks for the compliment. You are very welcome!

I don't have Siss, so can't really compare it, but maybe somebody else can help out.

Thank you for the swathces & reviews Mac-Guy! I'm wondering if Louder Lilac is similar to Quite Cute lipstick?

I will swatch the other shades over the next few days. I need some proper daylight - and no rain! - to take proper pictures. My guess is that you will love Louder Lilac and Pulse.

See this is why I love this forum, I would have never thought of that, and it enables me to overcome my lip palette phobia so I can spend more on make up products. Specktra is so righteous that way. Thanks for the idea...and again, your swatches are fantastical.

I debated going to the Pro store today on my lunch break but the weather kept me indoors. After reading and re-reading this thread and drooling over the pictures and descriptions I think I'm going to head out tomorrow even if there's a blizzard! LOL
